Like most of us, I have a variety of hosting accounts. I wonder what the current thinking is on this subject?

I a couple of years ago, was told by my AdWords manager (when I was in a dispute about my duplicate search terms in two of my Limited company's accounts) "we don't allow two sites from the same individual on the same keyterms/subject in AdWords or the organic listings"

Yes, they did a check on the ownership of the companies concerned and discovered I was a director of both. Although it cost them over £2,000 a month in revenue, they insisted I shut one account down.

My point is, I'm shelling out for hosting for myself and clients so that, for example, I don't have the sites for two accountants on the same IP. With the exchange rate as it is, I'm trying to reduce my $spending and therefore, considering merging some of the hosting accounts. Is this likely to harm rankings?

Many thanks,

Ray

It might have a minor impact but nothing big enough to worry about.

If you have several sites on the same ip that are promoting the same products, that sounds a little dangerous. But it is pretty cheap to buy more ip addresses.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.
