    Hey there,

Where did this term blog flipping come from?

Are you talking about writing niche blogs, building a loyal following of readers, and then start earning income off of advertising.

    or

Are you talking about putting ten PLR articles on a wordpress blog of PLR graphics, and then flipping it.

    Both processes are mighty different.

Your site is valuable if it is currently making money. A lot of people seem to get caught up in creating a nice looking blog and then trying to sell it without proving income or selling it when it doesn't make much income.

A great strategy would be to create your blog, put up great content, and then spend several months monetizing the traffic you generate. When you sell, the buyer will be more impressed if you have collected at least 6 months of stats and show consistent income.

If you have that you can expect to get at least 12x your monthly earnings or even more. So if you had a blog that was consistently making you $100 per month, which isn't too hard to do (it might be making that on autopilot) you could then just sell the site for $1200 or so. Obviously you can be going for more money but you get the picture.

I just think that most people try to sell too soon.

    Thank you Linm

So the value of your blog has more to do with how much income your pulling with it more than anything else?

Yes income is the biggest thing a buyer will be looking for. However, if you have a site that has a whole lot of traffic and not much income a buyer may notice this and if they can think of a way to monetize the traffic they may be interested too.

    Hey,

    Yea, that term can work.

Ok, so for blog flipping you want to concentrate your thoughts on finding a sub-niche. I say this because the blogoshere has grown with many experts on the normal niches, so now we have to sub niche.

Sub Niching can be more lucrative though, you have more customer communication, and create a better buyer awareness.

    An example would be:

    The Niche: Smokers
    The Sub Niche: Smoker Communitties

If you are a smoker you know that sometimes you meet the funniest people outside restaurants/bars/hotels/etc. You have a conversation usually starting with, "Excuse me, do you have a light?"

However, think about it, what would be better then blogging and creating user interactivity with your blog, creating a topic of:

    Conversations while Smoking

People will enjoy reading blog posts about funny conversations while smoking. It is called mass media, something stupid, half naked, and sexy.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I don't know if the above would work, but anyways...

The problem with serious blog flipping is that a blog has a reader base that are following the writer/creator. They enjoy his style of writing, jokes, teachings, etc...

A blog flip results in a new ownership, which results in a pissed off reader base. Not so good for the new owner.

Of course, this is not always the situation, but from my experience, unless you are doing straight tutorial posts a new owner of a blog never sees success, and they are devalued.

Now, if you create a website that is interactive, has a blog, but readers can also tell their stories, now your in the money.

You will definately get a much higher price for your blog if it is currently earning an income.

The other thing that would make your blog get a better price is whether the content is unique or PLR, you will find that people are often likely to pay a little bit more for a blog that has unique content on it.

Have a blog that is easy to navigate and really has some good income potential, make sure that there is a good product out there for that niche to promote.

Lastly, have a blog that is nice to look at but at the same time relatively simple and try to do something a little unique to make yours stand out from the others.

    Good luck

I'm an active site flipper/seller so I can give you some current insider's info.

At the moment the site buyer's market is a little skittish. Six months ago people were a lot more willing to buy sites for the traffic or the potential. Now, forget about it.

Right now there are really only two things that are selling well reliably. Everything else is hit and miss.

    1. If your site is making money, any at all, you are very likely to sell for a good amount. 10 x monthly revenue is about the minimum going rate right now.

    2. If your site provides a solid product that a buyer can sell and keep the profits on themselves, like an ebook or a software product.

You can get some success with creating blogs with unique content, that are well monetized, but if you have no revenue there's a big luck factor as to how well you do.

Your original question, though, was regarding creating, growing and selling a blog. This can be very profitable, but only if the growth factor is the amount of money you are making as opposed to only the traffic. People just don't pay for traffic right now. Perhaps after this big panic phase everyone is over they will again, but right now they want something more tangible.

The other tricky part is that if you want to sell, you really need to create something that makes money with very little work. People want hands free as much as possible, so they can just focus on marketing.

If you can grow revenue from a site, you will kick a**. I've even seen sites that are making only $100 sell for $3000 if the maintenance level is low. Concentrate on something you are confident will generate revenue, and you have good prospects of doing well.

In what other ways can you make your site unique from the others
so that you can make a quick sale? If you provide such bonuses as
logo designs, professional minisite design, to promote blogs,
three custom headers for blogs, 3 fresh, unique articles...
will these be enough to make flipping your blog unique?

    Thanks Much...
