Moving Wordpress to a new server

Have got to move a Wordpress site to a new server.. I have read a few guides online and it's seems fraught with danger. I have also seen a few back up and restore plugins and program's. some free some paid.

The cost is not too much of an issue with in reason but I would much rather go on recommendation.

I don't want to loose anything

Has anyone used any of these plugins or have a recommended method

Thank you

    Hello,

If the new server has cpanel, cpanel can take care and copy all your stuff.
(files e databases) in a few minutes.
After that, you can point the domain to the new server.

Or you need download all files and databases to your local computer, then, upload at the new server.

If you have access to phpadmin, you can export your database (then upload at the new server).

If looks like difficult to you, you can use some plugin to do that. I feel more comfortable doing myself.

    Regards,

    alfardo,

You could place your site pages on two host and sign up with
www.noip dot com, No Affiliate Link which can redirect traffic
to the backup in five minutes rather the usual 12-24hs.
I've this info from "The 4-Hour Workweek".

Recently I had to move my WordPress blog from one host to the other.

I've tried to learn how to do it myself but it looked to complicated.

What I did was, paid 5 to one guy on Fiverr and within few minutes everything
has been moved from hosts without trouble.

If I kept trying to do it on my own probably I'll expend a lot more
if counting all the wasted hours to do it.

It's not really fraught with danger at all. Just seems that way. Here's a guide to do it yourself.

I've also used the free plugin called Duplicator and it's awesome. Completely works with no hassle.

I've used xcloner successfully in the past, however since the servers are not likely to be configured identically I would set up the site and test it completely before you change the nameserver settings at the registrar. That way there's no chance for any downtime.

    Xcloner is free http://wordpress.org/plugins/xcloner...p-and-restore/

...Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just set there.

Yeah learn how to do it yourself man! Trust me this will payoff dividends for you in the long run when you need to do this again again and again.

If both sites use Cpanel then you can just backup the whole site from their Cpanel or get them to. Then get them to send you the tar.gz file. It will contain all your sites html files, MYSQL databases, emails etc.

Then in your Cpanel for your new host provided you have created the add-on domain for it in your Cpanel. You can just do a restore and use that file.

Thats basically it in nutshell. Nothing fraught. Just ask your host to do it for you. That what I do when I'm feeling lazy.

    God speed.

I do recommend using blogVault - Complete WordPress Backup Service - they do backup your website and offer automatic migration tools to move from one server to another. They also offer test-restores and a great customer service. I use them with more than 40 domains since years to backup all my WordPress websites.

Thanks for all the options on this. I know takin care of things myself is the best option going forward. It will be so etching I need to do from time to time.

I will look at duplicator I think first.

    Wptwin seems very expensive.
