Easy ClickBank Question For Expert

Suppose you know someone bought a product through your hop-link (because it's one of your friends) and you know exactly what time they bought it at.

Should the commission/purchase show up in your ClickBank account after 24hours?

It's been 24 hours and the hops have been counted but the purchases and commissions have not been recorded in ClickBank Analytics...

I'm somewhat new to ClickBank .. (well new to actually making a sale anyway on ClickBank)

Thanks for your insight/experience.

It should because products are digital and the delivery is instant.

So I suppose it's a good thing I opened a support ticket about it..

I wonder wonder wonder how many of my other commissions just went PUFF up in smoke only to disappear without me getting paid.......... Spending money on driving traffic to a ClickBank product is hit and miss in my opinion then... I can't be certain this hasn't happened before when I legitimately purchased advertising to an offer site. *Sad Face*

It's just a good thing I actually know this person in "real life" I actually recommended the product because I just bought it and she clicked my hoplink and purchased.

I've been selling my own products and have been doing affiliate marketing with Clickbank. I haven't encountered such a problem.

Based on my own experience, once the digital product was purchased thru your hop-link, it will immediately be credited in your account.

But sometimes it is shown on a weekly report and might not be visible on your front page. But definitely, you will see it in the account reports.

If you think that there is really no such sale recorded, then it was better that you raised a ticket.

YOU have to include your ID, and use the right link, and the supplier must NOT include their ID as a referrer. ALSO, your link should NOT be on a third party page, and should be from a WEBSITE. And the customer should buy the product. ALSO, they should have it setup to pay a commission. If things aren't as I listed, you might NEVER get credit. Otherwise, I believe you SHOULD get credit within 24 hours, in fact I think it is right after the sale.

SOME people actually try to go to the supplier site with the ID in the query, and that is intentionally designed to NOT work! That id is there so the supplier can track it.

You have to call the clickbank site. IT sets the cookie, and goes to another site which basically determines if your cookie is qualified. IT then goes to the supplier site. THAT then goes to clickbank to get the order page. If they order, it then credits the last valid referrer with the sale, and sends them to the thankyou page.

Well to be honest I sent my hoplink to her in a facebook conversation, .. I mean come on ClickBank .. it's still a referral and I should still get paid.. it's direct sales but still, I "recommended it to a friend" I think that should suffice to get a commission on the sale.
It just so happens to be someone I know in real life, who also works online so it was useful to her.

Either way; I figured no matter how someone clicked on your hoplink if they purchased the product, that you would get paid.

Facebook may have somehow changed your link too... depending upon
whether you used certain url shortening services etc.

I've seen FB block links from certain domains, and also follow cloaked or
shortened links to determine where they actually pointed to, and then
block them. I've seen this namely with clients who were promoting
products where others had been overly-aggressive promoters, causing
FB to block the affiliate programs root domain.

I'd probably look at the link that you passed your friend, ask her to
click on it again, and once it took her to the sales page, and she
clicked on the order button, ask her to scroll to the very bottom of the
page and confirm that one the order form it actually showed your
affiliate ID. If not, you didn't get credit because someone (possibly FB)
      interfered with the tracking.

excellent advice Willie. That is the best way to actually be certain. I am s sucker for giving the benefit of the doubt, but hate to accuse people without hard proof.

Willie ... you rule man, .. I didn't even think about that!
Do you think ClickBank will be nice enough to give me credit for the sale, if I get the person to confirm my referral?

      Nope. I don't think so.

Unless someone purchased through your link you won't get a commission. If the link wasn't right then it's not Clickbank's fault unfortunately.

If you are getting people to purchase through your link you should always ask them to make sure your affiliate id is at the bottom of the order form before purchasing. It sounds to me like your affiliate id wasn't used for the purchase for whatever reason and in that case I think you'll find it very hard to get that commission.

I'm not sure how big the commission is but by the time you go through all of the back and forth with Clickbank it might be more worthwhile for you to just take it as a lesson learned and move forward. You'll now know next time to make sure that id is at the bottom of the order form.

Okay but the odd thing is ..... is that the hops were counted...

and it's worth $90 to me, so I'd prefer to have it

Because I literally went to clickbank and clicked promote .. copy and pasted the hoplink and gave it to her and her alone directly, .. I clicked the same link and that hop recorded... then she lost the hoplink and we talked for awhile so I just created a new hoplink, gave that one to her, she clicked it and purchased.. and it also recorded that last 3rd hop where she purchased.
So that's one from her initially, one from me to test the ClickBank Analytics, and then one final hop from her where she actually purchased.

So in conclusion the reason why I know it was her, is because she's literally the only person I gave the hoplink to... AND I'm the only other person who clicked the hoplink, so that accounts for the other hop.. 1 from her initially, then she and I were talking and while that was taking place I clicked my own hoplink to test the analytics, and then she said she lost my affiliate link, so I created a new hoplink and she clicked that and purchased...
All clicks are accounted for, the purchase was made yet I haven't received commission.

    It should be immediate.

You might wanna try emailing Clickbank to find out about this.

Next time if you intro someone personally to a clickbank product, ask them to check whether they see you affiliate id right at the bottom of the purchase page before they buy.

Clickbanks tracking has the last say so, although, I've had instances where tracking was screwed up thanks to a vendor's site being hacked and Clickbank DID wind up sending me a check for revenues that were missed during that time period. I didn't expect it or ask for it or anything... the check just showed up one day in the mail.

I have to agree with Willie, though. FB might have messed up your link or... who knows... did you have your friend check and make sure that your affid was at the bottom of the payment page?
