403 Forbidden sites

Why is it that sometimes when I open a site I frequently visit (I'm an admin) I can't access it. After I logged-in it redirects to 403 Forbidden but other times the site is okay?What could be the problem?

    Hi,
    Some server (mainly with cpanel) have a protection (like brute force protection) and if you put a wrong password a couple of times, you go to black list. Then, you need wait some time to try again. Maybe that is it. Try to check with your hosting provider. If you have a private server with cpanel, check at WHM panel.

    None of the above. 403 forbidden is a permissions error. It means you don't have access to view it. If it's intermittent, chances are there's too many requests and you're being redirected to a file that you don't have permissions to execute. It has nothing to do with your IP being blocked/blacklisted or brute force.

      It could also be that at that very instance even though you are an admin of that site you were logged out hence the error. Check to make sure you are still logged in. Possibly refresh your browser clear cache/cookies etc.

        403 forbidden pages are server side permissions, nothing to do with the browser. As I mentioned, out of connections and directing to a file with non readable/executable permissions.

        If you restricted access to someone via an IP block in .htaccess then it would show a 403 page, but in the case of the OP I'd say it's very unlikely since they are only occasionally being locked out after logging in. If it were an IP block they wouldn't be able to access it at all.

        As mentioned above, it's intermittent, .htaccess is out of the question here. It would show a 403 & it could also show a 404, or 500 or any other error that you you tell .htaccess to use. .htaccess is not the problem here.

      Yes, most likely there are too many connections to the server, and not just connections from you.
