Is Chitika Legit?

I've known marketers over the past several years who have used it, but they don't make much money; at least not like they do with Adsense. I use Kontera and make a regular modest amount.

I have used it and just as many have stated, it's difficult to get anywhere near the numbers of Adsense. Just as "sfrewerd" suggests, I too use Kontera and they consistently outperform Chitika.

As an experiment I placed Kontera in my forum and the ads never showed up nor did technical support ever get back to me. I then used the Blogger widget of Kontera and my blog was removed almost instantly

Don't know how you can honestly claim to be a great alternative to adsense. My experience is you are a sorry alternative and a waste of time.

I've always regarded Chitika ads as spam and usually click away if I land on a page with Chitika (and/or infolinks). Reason is because Chitika allows all kind of crap to be advertised and usually webmasters using Chitika are doing so because they were banned from Adsense, which sort of tells you what they have been up to (yes, I know a competitor can clickbomb you but those cases are a tiny % of Adsense bans anyway). While I may know my way online and can tell what is spam and what isn't, I also know average users who tell me they see Chitika as spam and won't click (they won't even click on Adsense, which is why I believe earnings through Adsense are so much lower than 5 years ago).

I did research them in the past out of curiosity but I believe they were involved in inflating their sales figures could it be? They were called out in some blogs, but that's all I remember.
