How many sales are you expecting to make? What are the stats on the keyword(s) you're targeting and ranking high for?

Lol, happens all the time. A lot of factors come into play like keywords, product, niche, sales copy, etc...

Have to agree that we sort of need more information. A lot of stuff comes into play. What is your conversion rate?

You could easily rank on page one for a term like "driving lessons for dolphins". The result would be no visitors and no sales.

Yes I have seen plenty of marketers who did not do proper keyword research end up on page 1 for a keyword that is not searched for enough and/or is not a buying keyword resulting in few to no sales.

Sure, it has to do with the keyword and how much traffic it receives, as well as how well your site is set up to sell...

If you are selling your products sometimes, you can improve your website and convert more visitors into customers.

You can also try to find better products after understanding what your audience is buying online.

The exact search volume for the keyword plays an important factor in how much traffic you are going to get for the keyword. It is a good sign that you have gotten a couple sales. It means that the traffic may convert well if properly utilized. However, without the website and the keyword, it is hard to give specific details on what may be causing the problem.

    Sure!

Are you targeting keywords that attract buyers?

What are the people who did visit your site looking for. You
server logs will show you that by showing what keywords
they entered to find your site.

It entirely depends on what kind of keywords you're targeting. If you're ranking for a question type of keyword, then people are usually looking for free information. If you are ranking for a review type of keyword phrase, then you will make a lot more sales.

I've seen sites ranked at the top for much longer than that and never make a sale at all, because they're not even promoting or selling anything. Not all websites belong to marketers, you know. Contrary to "general marketing perceptions", marketing is only one of the many different roles and functions the worldwide web fulfils, and by no means one of the most important ones.
