How do you learn the basics or get a mentor?

I'm so close to starting, but there are something which I need help with like learning how to upload things in my database on my site like prosper202, or knowing how to understand code or script for simple things.

How would one go out and find a mentor like that for help? I want to get into CPA and affiliate marketing and I've already been accepted into some of the networks and know how to do the very basics, but I want to know how to track and how to promote banners and things like that, and frankly for someone new at it there is a great degree of confusion without instructions.

I have the money to spend, but not the resources to find a way to figure it out.

Thanks for any and all insights!!!

A good mentor is hard to find. I learned everything by trial and error. I wish someone gave me a roadmap but I am also glad I blazed my own trail

There are a group of mentors I would recommend to any newcomer and they are the niche power group......they taught me.

I would have loved to have had a mentor when I started. Of course this is a great place to learn right here. As far as programming. I would go out and buy a PHP book and start working through the examples if I was just starting out again.

I would say I did a little bit of both. I learned a little bit about a lot of things (html, flash, php, mysql, photoshop, etc). But then in the end I hired people to do a lot of the tasks. However, I would not have been able to direct the people I hired as well as I do now if it weren't for the experience I gained hands on.

Trail and error...after messing up so many times you usually find out what you should be putting your energy in...and what you shouldn't!

Agreed, and you'll keep messing up, but you'll enjoy messing up, because it makes you stronger.

I didn't have a mentor at first, so it was all about me for a while - Google is a wonderful place to find the answers you're looking for! I also learned a lot about coding through the Revolution forums when I was constantly asking them stupid questions (thanks guys!).

I now have a mentor, and as Brandon said, it's hard to find one that's "100000%" committed to you.

I found myself in a situation where my mentor-to-be saw my potential and made me an offer I couldn't refuse (no he did not offer me what you're thinking! ;-) ), and in return for me helping his clients out with the little knowledge I had, he would do the same for me, so it worked out perfectly!

Was it luck? I don't think so - I was just smart enough to realise early on that I needed to mix with those who inspired me and it was on one of those occasions that I was "discovered" so to speak! Woo hoo! And I've never looked back!
