Starting a personal fitness / finance blog - Any hope?

Brought a cheap domain and been none stop posting on it for a few days, but scheduled it out to look natural. It is just information about running, fitness, weights etc as that's a personal hobby but also information on money and few different promotion ideas. There's no affiliate links and I'm not concerned about making money with the site yet I just want to make it into a community with people who are interested in both finance and fitness, money and muscles ETC

But I'm not exactly sure how or where to promote. Im creating facebook, twitter and youtube sites this week and am willing to create loads of content because I enjoy talking about those subjects, but can't really work out how to create a social style site, as most others are solely business ones.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated and as I said I'm not really concerned with making any money from the site.

Thanks
Tom.

Combining a bunch of different niches in one site can be tough. One success story is Tim Ferris (4 Hour Body). He's got fitness, making money, cooking etc....he made it all work. Check out his blog for ideas.

It's possible, but you probably have thousands of competitors. You have to start thinking about how you're going to stand out from all of them.

Agree, with the last post. There is so much competition that you will have to stand out with an exceptional product to get anywhere in this market.
I'm have given up with web sites in this niche and I have been targeting a specific media using mobiles with a fitness/nutrition site/app and that to me seems the way to go as the visitor rate is fairly targeted and constant.

  • Fitness is awesome. I love that niche. Easy money...

And don't let the competition scare you. It doesn't mean a thing.

Cheers for the posts guys, but how do I get social visitors?

I have only ever got traffic from youtube/google/emails etc and that's usually only business ones not social ones. I know twitter/facebook social media but I was planning on doing this the other way and getting followers after they have visited my website.

How about facebook ads targeting your niche to a fb page then get them to the site where they opt in to get some great content. There are tons of software packages that target users in certain groups.

If you really want to make a difference with your fitness blog, you need to create your own Youtube channel. By the way, you can easily rank well with Youtube, you know? You just need to personalize and make your channel complete in details. As for your videos, try to make them interesting and in great quality to watch for your viewers, and make them very attracted once and for all. In this way, you are going to rank your videos pretty well, but not just rank and boosting views via Vagex or YouLikeHits (or even buy retention views), try to socialize them by sharing it on targeted Twitter users, Facebook fan pages and groups (ads if you have money to invest), LinkedIn and so on.

Just don't be afraid of the competition. Just be yourself and do your best to make your viewers happy and attracted, and might end up subscribing to your Youtube channel. Another thing is that on your fitness blog, you need to have an autoresponder to build your own list by simply giving away an eBook about fitness or a mini daily course for this niche.

Hope this one helps on your fitness blog journey. Cheers!

How are you different? What is going to be the rock you stand on that says why your message is unique and significant compared to the thousands of other similar blogs out there?

You can definitely have success in that niche but you'll need to make sure you can answer my question above first and then make sure and communicate that answer very well on your website, social media, and any ads or inbound marketing that you do.

Well, it will definitely weird people out. That'd be me like me saying: "Hey, I sell gold but I also sell puppies"... Yeah, two niches in one website might sound like a good idea as far as money making goes but you have no idea how BAD an idea it is!!

If you want to mix niches, at least say on topic. Let's say you chose Finance as your main niche, well, that's a HUGE niche!! If you do both, it will be a total nightmare... Do you know how many sub niches are within each? Over 100,000 with both combined, if not more!! You could start with low interest credit cards, apparently that's an easy sell (cpa) and then go onto debt consolidations, student loans, etc... each sub niche can be a website in its own, you are building an authority website. Not my cup of tea but all the power to you

Take something you are already knowledgeable in. I don't know how many websites I visit in my niche or other niche where I'm actualyl an expert and think "these bozos know nothing", don't be them, please!! Personal experience knowledge = $$$!!!

    Hope this helps
