How to make money from YouTube

Hi,
I have a YT channel on a weight-loss niche. The channel has 6 videos and they are all ranking in top 10 of their keywords. Inside the video and in the description, I direct viewers directly to an affiliate website (using a link shortener/redirect).
I know that directly linking to an affiliate website is risky and that my channel can get banned. This is why I am seeking your advice on what to do.

1. Should I create my own website, set up a landing page and then direct the visitors to the affiliate website?
2. Should I set up my own website with an opt-in page and then add those visitors to my list and then market from there?

Is there another great option that I can use.

    You should be collecting their email address because the money really is in the list.
    That way you can sell to them again and again.

    Setting up a website is better than the way you are doing it,(I think) Why run the risk of getting banned?

      Option 2 will be the best alternative IMHO.
      Do you know why?

      I would totally agree with Gail. If you combine Youtube with list building, it would be very awesome. When you are promoting a weight loss video, I should consider that you should be creating an eBook about weight loss or even start a mini daily course for your subscribers to follow. In this way, you will be having long term income with a targeted list, not just your Youtube channel.

    like what gail said, it would be ideal to make an opt-in page and gather the email address's of people, so that you can resell and promote your next products too, and keep them engaged.

    Yes you can. The best is its free to promote, you should put your links in the video. I highly recommend to use an animation video than your talking in front of the video.

    Definitely Option 2.
    Not only you are capturing the leads,
    you are driving traffic to your website,
    Can improve your Alexa score if the traffic
    Is significant.

    Make sure you drive the traffic to a
    Converting Squeeze page.
    The key here is to get subscribers..
    Let your affiliate landing page do the selling.

      Get a landing page that way they can enter their contact information so that you can build a list. That's a good way to get customers.

    Hi Guyz,
    I am so thrilled by the massive response I got. Thank you all for chipping in to help a newbie. Actually, the video is pretty simple, just a whiteboard animation offering written tips with background music. no voiceover.
    Now that I have decided to go for option 2, could you please tell me how and where to get started. I only have $100 to start with.

    My idea of approach (collect me if I am wrong):
    1. To set up a squeeze page for capturing email addresses
    2. Once I get them in my list to start marketing to them

    My questions are:
    1. I only know how to create simple wordpress sites. Should I turn to fiverr to have somebody make me the squeeze page (is this the same as a landing page?)
    2. Considering my budget, which email response service should I use (e.g. Aweber)?
    3. How do I set up a daily mini-course (e.g. ebook) or should I just market products? How regularly should this be done and how can I get someone to write for me pre-written emails to send my list?
    4. Is there an ebook or WSO out there that can guide me through this whole process or will I have to rely on trial and error.

    I am currently getting about 5 clicks a day from all the videos. Is this enough to warrant my investment. Should I have an eye for ranking the website in the search engine or it will be hard to rank a landing page website?

    I know these are soooo many questions, but I really need to get started somewhere and I don't want to get lost in this maze.

    I would go with the opt-in route. The videos on youtube can be taken down any time (as you said yourself) so you need to bring those visitors into your own marketing system, meaning your list. This way, you can sell them more than just that one affiliate product you were pointing them to earlier.

    There was once a time I made thousands of dollars with Youtube , i do have several YouTube accounts that make me money till this very day .. But all i can say is this just be very careful and not put all your eggs in one basket. Youtube can take your account away anytime so just becareful there.
