How do you find the guru sites that are highest ranking in Alexa?

In one of the threads, I read a post about "modeling" that helped a person to make decent success in Internet Marketing.

I asked the above question there and did not get any answer.

I would like to learn how to find out the top people's website through Alexa in any niche to model what they are doing.

Thanks,
Coconut Isa.

Do a search for the guru names listed here. Find their urls. Enter the urls into Alexa one by one.

Alexa ranking means nothing. The only thing it shows is the amount of traffic going to a website from people using their toolbar, nothing about how well the pages actually convert.

A more reliable source would be viewing the ClickBank marketplace and their stats on different products in your niche.

Ya, that's what I'm doing now. Most of these big guys don't have obvious websites with their names on it; maybe they are running those websites under pen names, we don't know.

So, the only option here is to buy into their sales funnel to see how they've designed it, go through their course to see how they explain their methods and get in their list to see how their autoresponder series are.

        Really good advice!

Looking at only the sales page is like looking only at the paint job of a car. You need to get under the hood to really understand what makes it go.

That can't be done via Alexa rankings. They don't identify "the top people's websites" at all.

You can perhaps use them to find the sites of the people who have had the most recorded visits by people who had the Alexa toolbar installed and running at the time of their visits, but that isn't worthwhile information for any purposes I can think of. That toolbar isn't something customers use. Only "other marketers", I think?

I don't imagine that many of the visitors to my sites have that toolbar running in their browsers, so it can't measure my traffic (and that wouldn't tell anyone much, even if it could). Do visitors to your site use it?

Thank you Alexa Smith. After reading your answer and others" answers, I feel that my focus should be elsewhere. I should not have asked this question at all.

To answer your question, I finally got my site up and installed some WP plugins since I use WP (I know you don't).

I do have a question to you Alexa Smith.

I have read elsewhere that you wrote to always post an article/blog post at my site first and after Google indexes it, to post in other places.

Question is: should I modify a little and post the same Article at ezinearties?

      Thanks.

I strongly recommend that you don't modify it, but submit exactly the same article to Ezine Articles, if you want to use it, just with the addition of a "resource box" including a link to your site's landing page, of course - one might call that a "modification", it's true. There's no harm in changing the title, too, actually - if for any reason you want to. (I sometimes don't want to use exactly the same title on my site as on other people's sites).

Article directories don't require previously unpublished content, and it would actually be a mistake to give them any (e.g. by re-writing an article), for all the reasons explained in various different posts in this thread (worth reading - not a long thread): http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...marketing.html

However, before submitting to any article directory (and we'll all readily agree with you that Ezine Articles is by some way the best one to use), be clear "how article directories work" and why you're doing so. Specifically, don't do it with the plan of attracting potential customers to your own site via the EZA copy (a mistake, as explained in this post) and clearly not for their backlink (which has no value to your site). This will help you, I hope: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5068872

Thank you Alexa. Wow, every link you have given here has so much info, I don't have time to read all of them, but I got some idea now.

Each market has its peculiarities...in the case of many of the big name "guru's" - you will find that they have built their lists and followers based almost entirely on launching products and then sharing their tips/techniques and strategies with each other by way of partner promotions. You get a close network of 10-15 core gurus who pool together and co-promote each other's stuff with 100's of other small list owners that see one and then promote their stuff whcih continually feeds their "master list".

Lesson is, envision yourself as top 1% player in your market, create your own product (published book, ebook, course, etc...) get the other top 1%'ers to promote with you then represent yourself as the top 1% so the other 99% want to do what you do and follow you. In other words, don't seek to be middle of the pack, plan as if you want to lead your market.

This site may not give Alexa rankings, because it's been a while since I've been on it... but I've always found it quite entertaining...

    Experts Index from GuruDAQ.com

The top internet marketers basically go up and down like stocks do... quite an interesting site and you can often find some of the top marketers there you can model after.
