OptimizePress 2.0 pricing details

Contacted James a couple weeks ago regarding pricing and this was his reply: "The pricing we're looking at will most likely be around $29/month or special annual rate of $199/year (which works out at nearly 50% discount over the monthly rate)." I almost bought OptimizePress 1.0 thinking it would be an easy/cheap upgrade to 2.0 but this is not the case. Hopefully this will help others to avoid making this mistake as I find the pricing a little ridiculous and will not be buying into such a system. Are any other people seeing value in a $199 yearly fee for 2.0 or will you be looking into alternatives? At the moment I'm liking ProfitTheme. What are the best alternatives out there?

I'm gonna be honest, if the tool is as good as it looks, and you're going to be using it frequently, then $200 a year isn't a lot at all. I personally am not buying optimizepress because it has runs on Wordpress, and I would rather not have their squeeze pages and landing pages take so long to load (due to Wordpress).

I think the pricing for their tool is alright. If you bring in just a few sales per year then the tool pays for itself.

The pages don't load slow because it's on WP platform... Some people's sales pages load slow in Optimize Press due to a lot of images (like the entire sales page including text).

I use Optimize Press and every page in and out of the members area as well as the squeeze pages all load fast for me. So it cannot be Word Press.

I expected this. They're trying to compete with LeadPages and I don't think they'll be able to catch up. Clay has been hammering out template after template and I'd rather give them the money since the pages work with or without WordPress.

One-time payment themes are going away because the pricing model doesn't work. How can you sell a theme for $97 lifetime and expect to support it forever?

Depends on what you mean by support. Im going to assume that your not talking about future updates for free (since Optin Press is charging for there future updates) , so Im guessing you are talking about tech support for the theme. If thats the case then there is absolutely no reason why it cant be a one time fee. There are thousands of software products out there that charge a one time price and have tech support for life. Every Microsoft product, every Adobe product, every {insert any of a hundred publishers names here}. Heck even the so called 'little guys' like me which only move a few thousand unites of there products can do this and stay profitable. I know for sure because I do this. Im sorry if a company is selling you a software that is not hosted buy them (hosted products are different) and are trying to charge you a reoccurring fee they are greedy and just making a cash grab.

No. Microsoft and Adobe do not provide support for life.
Windows XP support reaches end of life in 2014. Here's an entire list of Microsoft expiration dates for every product they own. And here is Adobe's.

Smaller owners still provide lifetime support, but I'm seeing it less often these days. Most software providers are moving towards either 1) monthly fees or 2) yearly fees for updates and support.

Totally agree! I hate it when developers create software that is only compatible with wordpress. Yeah wordpress is easy to use and this and that but it's slow, has security issues and is not flexible at all (SO LIMITED! - Especially speaking from an intermediate web developer's point of view). It's way rather buy standalone software, or at least software that generates these pages which don't require wordpress to use.

This is entirely FALSE. OP2 will be a one-time fee.

James himself stated this publicly a few days ago:

Most of those are life of the product.

In this case, 1.0 would be considered "dead'.

    Calm down folks...

I've used OP since it came out and used it so much it's starting to get hot spots. I'd be up for a $29 a month charge for a kickass new version, any day of the week. Once you get used to it it's like that crummy old car you got, you keep it because it just simply works and you are used to it.

It's a great platform if you build a lot of squeeze pages and sales pages as well as membership sites. Not really ideal for just regular websites and blogs. The format used is almost the de-facto in the industry.

I TOTALLY dissagree that the one-time model is flawed. No, it works. With the current economy, you're better off to get yourself a small piece of pie rather than starve. It's not going to get better either. Big ticket items and monthly subscriptions all end up on blackhat forums anways for free.

    Hope this helps

It has, already been said "Monthly fees, are optional" . You probably pay them fees and get new templates on a monthly basis. If you, have no interest in them...don't sweat it

I think OP is an amazing product and if they are proposing monthly fees for additional templates to keep sending you new templates and upgrading features, it makes total sense. At the prices mentioned above, it is still a steal.

$29 a month, expensive...hugh it's a matter of perspective. I use leadpages and I am more than happy to pay the monthly fee and I am going to get optimizepress as well as I have the 1.0 version and I think that is quite outdated in terms of design quality ( just look at any leadpages template and you'll see the difference).

If you're business generates enough cash to pay for these expenses then it's a no brainer.

Been a proud user of OP for the past two years: If OP 2 is just half as decent as op 1, I wouldn't mind the monthly charge at all (even though it as stated earlier in this thread that this is not the case at all)

For me it's all about value, and O.P 1 has given me great value, so I wouldn't mind paying for it at all.

It's already been said that it will be a flat fee with a monthly option for basically a membership for new templates etc...

Supposedly it's entirely drag n drop, so what kind of new templates would you really need?

When tools grow up and find a market with real businesses, they don't have to sweat over whether wannabes will balk at paying or not. If you have one employee, your payroll is already $5k/mo/person at least (salary's only a small component of employing people)... are you really going to sweat $29 here and there for the tools that make them productive (saving one employee one hour of work per month pays for it), especially if moving your conversion rate needle 1% is an orders-of-magnitude return on investment?

This costs far less than other services that do much less.

    It's NOT $29 a month!

There's an option to join a "members club" for $17 if you want. Probably like Wishlist offer a membership site to help people, James has decided to do the same and "included" in that club is loads of other templates etc

So to clarify buying Opt Press is one time payment.

UPDATE: If you do your research all the pricing is available online, you just have to know where to find it or is my office next door to Optimize Press.....

I didn't pay a lot of attention to version 1 of Optimize Press, but as I started
looking for a platform to host new membership sites on, 2.0 grabbed my
attention, and I DO plan on transitioning to it.

As far as the monthly fee is concerned, I feel that the value is there! I pay
    much more for many services.

While we focus on software products that offer "free life-time upgrades," it's
very difficult for a company to give away 50% of their revenue in
commissions, and cover overhead, and have a lot left for development, etc.

That's partly why many companies do charge for upgrades and sell tech
support plans. The free upgrades for life plan is often unsustainable.

What I've seen of 2.0 left me salivating, and as I said, I will be using it

  • whatever they are charging I'll probably end up buying I'm sure one way or the other version 1 has generated 7 figures over 20+ sites. not sure what version 2 has but i know the guys with Dyson are going to come up with somehting i can use to make more sales.

I paid over a million dollars for a bunch blood sucking web masters and designers and i was never able to make a site they way i wanted it myself to test headlines, split test offers and try it fast i had to deal with 30+ people over the years it was always a nightmare. I like optimize press it was the first time ever i can do something on my own and see how it played out and I'll give you one big secret i discovered that the blood sucking web people not tell you their pretty stuff doesn't sell like the plain to the point simple stuff that i discovered playing with the simple membership, squeeze and sales sites on optimize press.

if any FTC people are reading this im' not paid to write this i just wanted to say it's been one of the most important products i use to sell info products online and no one asked me to write this

This is dragging on for too long. First it was the 23rd, then the 25th, now more details on the 30th. I wanted to get some pages up two weeks ago. How much is it? Has that been confirmed? I don't get all the hush hush. Just announce the official price already so we can know if we are going with op2 or another option. By we, I mean everyone waiting on this.

It's a simple marketing technique my friend - generate buzz and get everyone taking about it and questioning it.

You think an extra week is too long to wait? They originally announced OP2 would be out LAST YEAR.... yeah, really.

I love Optimizepress and will probably buy OP2 when it does finally come out, but James and his team are not known for meeting their deadlines at all.

Yes, I think it is too long to wait to tell the price. If it is $500 then I could have moved on by now to the other options available, because I am not spending $500. If it is $97, then okay. I could check it off my list, and wait until they launch.

            You missed the point entirely.

If you're going to continue to wait for OP2 to come out to "get pages up", you're making a mistake. It has already been delayed more than a year, and it could easily be delayed many more weeks, months, or longer. If you're waiting for it to come out to start doing what you need to do on your site, you're leaving your business completely at the mercy of stranger's whims.

            Good luck with that.

It's about balancing value and pricing. Costs can quickly add up and OP 1 is pretty good. OP 2 looks like it will offer a good deal more and has new templates & add-on's being regularly made available for subscriber users but monthly fees add up fast and sometimes the additional features or offerings don't necessarily translate into more value for you because you either don't have time to use them or don't have the need.

How many things have you bought and never used? or how many times have you upgraded and never used the additional features? Food for thought.

BTW, I love OP 1 and I'm waiting for OP 2, but will evaluate with the launch and pricing.

Well, Mr. actually, after much research- I was going to buy OP 1. I got distracted and said I would buy it later. Two days later, I could not buy it.

So should I have started all over again looking at options, or should I wait 2 weeks and get what I wanted in the first place? If 2 weeks extends any longer- then okay- it will be choice #2. But, at first I did not see any harm in waiting.

I know how to run a business. I have not had a job since I was a college student. I hope to maintain that record. I am also too old to be responding to digs on the internet, so pretend this post was not written.
