Best Time To Call Customers...

I had a list of 12 customer phone numbers through my credit card company I needed to call because of payment issues.

I called all 12 just now, about 6:30pm EST and not 1 picked up...

Since I work from home, I'll pick up the phone 20 out of 24 hours a day.

I would assume most of my customers DON'T work from home, so my guess is they were at work around this time?

I don't know...

What's the best time to call customers?

I tend to call them about 6-7 pm their time. It usually when they are done with dinner and are relaxing and more open to things because they are winding down for the day. Instead of being annoyed because you are calling directly after work or during dinner.

When I used to call personally, I found (in the UK) that between 7:00pm and 7:45pm worked best. Possibly because working people had eaten their early evening meal and finished watching the news on television.

In the Summertime when it is light outside for much longer, I would phone anytime from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. I think that with the electric lights turned off, the curtains open and the natural sunlight available makes people more receptive and less reluctant to answering the later calls.

For people not working at a day job, any time of day, even during the lunch time was effective, as long as you don't phone anytime around the 'school run' period, when you are unlikely to 'connect'.

      Just my own experience.

      Regards,
      Jeff.

Try calling your customers anywhere between 6pm and 8pm.

I agree, in my experience 8-9pm is best, 9pm is hot!! but is against the law to call after 9pm

Ugh, its not against the law to call after 9pm, remember these are his clients. It is illegal to place telemarketing calls or collection agency calls after 9pm.

Start with the 7pm-9pm their time. Then try 9am-11am and maybe 3pm-5pm. There are quite a few people that work weird hours nowadays.

I assume there was a serious issue with credit card billing? I would try to be nice with these times first, for a while. Then I would go to 11pm, 1 am, 7am, etc, until I did receive an answer. Even if you are calling to collect, you can call at anytime, it is only collection agencies that are trying to collect another companies debt that have restrictions on calling times, etc.

I like to email them and arrange a phone meeting. That way both the customer and I can be efficient with our time, and plan our schedule.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

I would start calling between 7-9pm their time, and 8-9am second.
