WSO'S....IN WHO'S INTEREST EXACTLY????

The scary thing about WSO's is they are all totally unregulated.......meaning anyone on here has the free will to bullshit you.....and it goes on on a massive scale.

Had the same conversation with Paul "zen redneck" Myers on here a few weeks ago, a total idiot who profits from this as a moderator and offers no guidance, regulation nor protection to innocent WF users whilst protecting his own business interests and profiting from your naivity.

    It's not the WF problem to use due diligence for you. If the WF was taking a cut of every sale, then maybe they could review every WSO, but they don't, they only sell advertising space.

    People get scammed because they like to jump head first, instead of doing research on the seller. Alot of people fail to realize, that the WF is monetized by ad space, and membership fee. They don't sell any products..

      I've told Ross previously that I don't make a dime off of the ad fees people pay here. He insists on presenting this fiction as fact, despite having been corrected on it.

      I am not going to waste my time repeatedly arguing with someone who refuses to even consider that his assumptions may be mistaken.

      As far as lack of regulation, ask the sellers I've banned, or the buyers I've gone to bat for. The fact that we don't publicly advertise every action taken doesn't mean nothing's happening.

      Spurious arguments, repeated by people more interested in noise than truth.

    a single word of proof to back up the allegations you've made.

    The only people that need protection are small children
    That's not precisely true. People deserve protection from offers that are misrepresented, sellers who refuse to honor posted refund policies, products that contain unannounced risks like copyrighted material they could get sued for using, and myriad other possible abuses.

    So far in this thread there are at least 3 people who've reported offers that were hinky and seen those offers get nuked - by me.

      Mike,

      Ross has been banned, so it's not fair to ask him that kind of question. To answer it, though, I don't believe he's had that issue.

      I think he probably believes his assumption about me making money from ad fees. He's wrong, but it wouldn't be an unreasonable guess. I am the only one of the mods who usually discusses this stuff publicly, so people often assume I'm an owner or something.

      The problem isn't in making the initial assumption. It's in repeating it, insisting it's true and attaching accusations to it, when you've been told it isn't. By then, it's gone beyond the bounds of a simple error and into reckless disregard for the truth.

      At that point, even I won't put up with the nonsense any further.

      You really need to do your research when it comes to who's good, who's bad and who's ugly in this forum. I don't know Paul Myers personally but I do know that I like coming across his posts because they're always sensible and helpful.

      As others have said, do your research before buying a WSO and make sure you read all the posts on the thread to know what others think too.

      Trust me, you'll soon know who the bad and the ugly are here, just keep your eyes open for the good, is all!

      Edit: just read that he's been banned so guess this post is redundant now.

      Care to let us know why he was banned or should I just mind my own business?

        Because he's made it clear that his only purpose in this forum is to repeat untrue statements in an effort to do damage to the forum. Whether he believes those statements or not isn't really relevant. He very well may. But he's been told they're wrong and insists on repeating them as accusations.

        I gave him rope. He chose to make a noose out of it, rather than a ladder. I just accepted his choice.

    Last time I listed something on eBay I didn't have them come around and review the quality of the product before the auction went live. You are kidding right?

    If you are old enough to spend money you are old enough to do your own research and work out what is good and what is bad.

    Almost all the complaints I see about WSO's are from people who are buying WSOs that have silly promises and hype. If something sounds too good to be true, it is. If you want to believe that hype then is that really just the fault of the seller? I think not.

    If you went on to eBay and purchased a $3,000 Louis Vuitton handbag for just $150 and then complained when you got it and found out it was a fake, is it really just the sellers fault? At some point you have to take responsibility for your own silly decisions.

      Not all offers include a refund guarantee. I'm starting to think we need to require people to state their refund policy in big, bold, letters. Even if all it is is "No refunds."

      Given the large volumes of WSO's that has to be moderated every single day, it's impossible for WSO moderators to personally buy every single WSO and then review them. Yes, given that there are some BS WSO's, however, you NEED to use your own discretion as a consumer before deciding to purchase a WSO.

    It's amazing how people constantly "fall" for stuff and then blame others for their ignorance. The WSO marketplace contains many types of WSOs. Some are good, others are a junk.

    I have to agree that there are plenty of hyped up products but that's not something unique to the WSO marketplace. It is common in the entire IM community. People should learn that when something sounds to good to be true, it probably doesn't work. So they should learn to restrain themselves from buying rather than buying and complaining and demanding more regulation afterwards.

    Unnecessary regulation ruins a lot of things.

    They're unregulated if you don't bother reading the prominently posted rules in the WSO section that enforced. I personally have reported WSOs on occasion and they have been shut down for violations.

    I can only be thankful for other rules as well, like spreading outright lies when apparently you've been told the facts. As you can see, those rules are enforced also. :p
