Website maker pleads guilty to wire fraud

Scammer facing long time behind bars for selling bogus
Sites with "guaranteed income" claims.
Unfortunately there is no way that they could track down and prosecute every single two bit scammer. Plus many of them may reside In countries where these crimes are no biggie.
Well at least this guy is going to pay the piper...

Scammed people out of 300k, that is insane. I wonder if he sold those sites on Flippa?

According to the article it was mainly businessbroker.net and bizbuysell.com, but obviously scams like this happen almost everywhere (including Flippa).

It's refreshing to see that there's finally a precedent, but the sad truth is that this one case won't make a massive difference. The only thing that would help the situation somewhat is active moderation of marketplaces - but in most cases this is not feasible due to the costs involved.

This happened before Flippa was a standalone marketplace. I don't know whether he listed on Sitepoint Marketplace (Flippa's predecessor).

Wow yeah, crazy story. There are so many ways to earn a good living legitimately on the internet, it's just not worth it to risk spending years behind bars like a caged animal just so you can make a few extra bucks.

    Very sad.

You know what? That's a good idea. I'll include it in my next links round-up. This happened before Flippa started, but we see it as a positive thing that scammers are being prosecuted, and it's a good reminder that if something looks too good to be true... it likely is.
