FFA sites. what are they and are they and do they work?

INTERNET MARKETING

I tripped across this site called "the grandfather of all ffa sites". it displayed a list of sites that accept links through a web form. I am wondering if these site are any good or am i just wasting my time buy posting to these sites.

All I received is a ton of e-mails and not traffic to my web page.

Please advise. Thank you

LOL. "Free for all" sites went out of style in 1996.

  Basically they are pages where anybody can post a link, but it falls off the page after a short time.
  
  The owner of the page sends a thankyou email to the submitted with an ad.
  
  The process of both running the pages an submitting can both be automated, so you end up with robots submitting links to robots, who send email ads back to the first set of robots.
  
  I'd be amazed If you get any human visitors from running a page, or submitting to them.
