Did I expose this guy or is it something worth exploiting?

Hello Warriors,

I have been submitting articles to EzineArticles for
a long time now and I came across an author that
defied what I thought were the standard rules of
articles in EZA.

Especially the rule that no self-serving links were
allowed in the body of the article. The only place
where you can have such links is in the resource box.

The author, Jordan Jones, has many of his recent
articles approved with the link in the body. I checked
out some of his other articles and I found that...

1. He has 1 self-serving link in the body and 1 in the
resource box (pointing to the same site) in some of his
articles.

2. He has articles that has the link in the body but
he left the resource box totally empty.

This is quoted from EzineArticles' Editorial Guidelines:

WEBSITE LINKS/URLS There is a total limit of (4) active or inactive links allowed in the article, which consists of both the BODY and the RESOURCE BOX.

  1. Maximum of (2) "Self-Serving" active or inactive links/URLs to a website that you own, control, or have an interest in.
  2. Maximum of (2) active or inactive non-self serving links/URLs to a website that you do not own, control, or have an interest in which adds value to the article.
  3. Confine your self-serving links to your RESOURCE BOX.
  4. We do not accept articles with active or inactive links in the first 1-3 paragraphs. Please put your active links in the resource box below the article body. The article BODY is your "GIVE" and the RESOURCE BOX is your "TAKE."
I have contacted EZA about this, sent an email to them,
contacted Chris Knight, Twittered to them, et cetera.

I tried to find out if there's anything at all with regards
to this but I got no answers.

Am I just being paranoid here or have I stumbled upon a
"loop hole" in the EzineArticles approval process?

Asher

Well, all of the links are not included in the first 3
paragraphs and is not in the fold - that's correct.

But it still contradicts with them saying that we
have to confine our self serving links only to the
      resource box.

So why is it that he has all of his articles with the
link in the body of the article?

I thin kit's allowed in the body as long as it's below the fold, at least I too have had articles accepted with self serving links in the body.

Why do you care what this person is doing? and why did you feel the need to tell EZA?

          Hi Andy,

The reason I'm looking at this is because for people
like me who use article marketing to get traffic, I
want people to click on the links to visit my site.

Having links in the body of an article is something
that could actually be more "click-worthy" rather
than having a link in the resource box of an article.

I wanted to know if this is something that's worth
          doing.

wow you are spending alot of time emails and contacting people...posting here. Whats the end result? You could have been doing it yourself, posting your own articles, or doing something productive. Life is too short...
No, I did not spend a lot of time on emails. How do
you know I've not been posting my own articles or
          doing something productive?

What I'm trying to find out here is how I can improve
my own efforts - is that wrong?

What is wrong with trying to find more ways to improve
the results of the things I'm trying to do? Is there a
problem contacting people to get an answer? I've still
been producing articles and doing my own work.

This is just something that totally knocked me off my
socks - so I'd like to find out more about it~

    Hi, Asher,

The more I se of EZA the more I wonder who they are paying as monitors.

I recently closed my account and asked for all my articles to be deleted from their data base because they accused me of plagiarism.

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more
Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!

They accused you of plagiarism? You mean they didn't
approve your articles because they were too close to
      another article?

I thin kit's allowed in the body as long as it's below the fold, at least I too have had articles accepted with self serving links in the body.
You too? Hrmm... how'd it work for you? Did you get
good click through rates with those articles?

You need to read the rules again.

WEBSITE LINKS/URLS There is a total limit of (4) active or inactive links allowed in the article, which consists of both the BODY and the RESOURCE BOX.

As long as they are not in the first 3 paragraphs - no problem...
