Anyone else having problems with Namecheap?

I have 2 websites hosted by Namecheap and they have both been down all day. I did not have much of a chance to work yesterday, so I am not sure how long they could have been down last night.

I reported the problem to them about 10 hours ago and received an email within about 45 minutes that said they were working on it... nothing since then though.

Is anyone else having problems with Namecheap hosting?

Sorry to hear about the server problems you are experiencing at NameCheap.

But for the life of me, I cannot believe anyone would host with them. And I am
a huge fan of NC. I purchase all my domains thru them. But host with them ...
        no thanks.

I have had one problem with them before... care to let me in on why you don't like their hosting and who you suggest instead? So far I like them better than the others I have used... Godaddy and 1&1. I absolutely HATE 1&1.

            Hi Matthew,

The one thing you should do when you're working on the internet is,
do not host any of your websites on "domain registrars".

            Use reputable hosting companies.

I have a reseller account with hostgator.com and I have nothing
            but praise for their company.
Support is 24/7/365. Smart tech/sales/presales support people.

If you do a search here on the WarriorForum for hostgator
you'll find a lot of people here use them and think they're great.

            Hope you do too.

There are a zillion hosts out there. Host4profit and
Hostgator are the only two I've had consistent
              success with.

When you hear someone telling you what YOU can't do, they are usually talking about what THEY can't do.

When I originally replied and said I had no problems I inadvertently had checked my hostgator accounts, duh!
But I just went back and my 1 namecheap account is working fine <whew>
I do plan to use them for more domain name purchases but the hosting will be switched over to hostgator.

Personally I use HostingZoom. Been using them for years and am very pleased. There
are quite a few good ones out there. I'm sure there are some threads that discuss them
                  and why in more detail.

Sandy's post pretty much explains the rest.

Although, I don't know about Namecheap hosting, I've used
Godaddy and 1&1 as well. I agree about 1&1. I had an account
with them for about 6 months and had about 1 month(if that)
up time total out of those 6 months. Customer support was not
helpful in any way. Their replies had nothing to do with my
            questions.

I've briefly used Godaddy while awaiting a real hosting account. LOL
I never had to contact customer support or anything, but I didn't
really care for the user interface.

I much prefer CPanel hosts. Of which there are plenty.

As for the DDOS attacks at Namecheap, that can happen
anywhere, at anytime. You can only do so much to secure
            a server.

I've run and/or helped to run several hosting servers and
let me tell you, it's not an easy task keeping them secure
from attacks. Not to mention, keeping them from getting
blacklisted because of spam from the server. Don't think
it's always hackers "supposedly" sending spam from the
servers either. Although, that can and does happen from
time to time, the very nature of viral marketing is bound
            to be accused of spam.

Even when people subscribe and double optin to your list,
their ISP's spam filter can still treat you like spam and put
you on a blacklist. This is done without your subscribers
knowledge or permission in some cases (as with AOL).

I even had a special Spam 800# for AOL to deal with these
            annoyances.

Anyway, I'm sure if you give Namecheap a little time they'll
get this DDOS attack under control and have the server
back up and running shortly. They are probably installing
software to try to further protect the server against future
            attacks.

            Good luck and best wishes!

            Peace & Prosperity,
            Matt Fulger

Yeah 1&1 are scamming *******s... I canceled my account with them 2 years ago and then get a phone call from a collection agency a year later trying to collect $38...

I freaked and the guy on the other end of the phone yelled at me saying, [quote] "You still don't get it do you? Just pay the $38 dollars and chalk it up to a cheap lesson" [end quote]

WTF... a cheap lesson that you guys [1&1] are scammers?

Personally I use Kiosk.ws and have never had a problem. I host a lot of sites with them...

This is one reason why it is best never host your websites and buy your domains at the same place...
