YouTube and copyright when used in a blog

I am sure this question has been answered before but I can't find it in the "search" option.

Can I use a YouTube video of a TV show or movie, a two minute clip, to illustrate a point in a blog that is monetized with affiliate links or is that a violation of copyright?

    There are many doing it. As long as you give them credit i think you will be fine.

      If the video on youtube offers the embed code, than this is telling you, they allow you to embed the video on other websites.

    If the person posting the video is authorized to do so, and the embed option is enabled, it should not be a problem.

    If it turns out they are not authorized then your risk is mostly having a dead video on your site when YouTube shuts it down.

    If you can share the video then yes. Its in there tos. what people put up can be shared, Now this is not to say someone shared something they should of in the first place, so with that said then go for it, you can read the terms though and see you can.

    Yes because everyone who uploads a video to YouTube has agreed to their TOS which states that others can use their content.

    IF the person who uploaded the content doesn't have right to upload it and you use it, it's very likely that the video will be removed from YT before anything happens to you. However, you could still get in some trouble so make sure that the video was uploaded by the rightful owner.

    (3) What you are asking is fundamentally whether this falls under fair use doctrine, and Campbell v. Acuff-Rose established the precedent that the commercial intent of a usage in and of itself shall not bar a finding of fair use
