Tips on email writing when you have writers block?

Hey so I've been on an email writing spree and seem to have writers block and don't know how to start off my emails.

I usually like to add a little story in my emails but can't think of anything good that relates to the lesson I want to teach them.

I also can't think of how to start off the email at all if I have a cool lesson to show them.

How do you guys get the ball rolling on your email writing?

Any tips?

You can get some ideas by subscribing to a few vendors in your market and going through their emails. For stories in your emails check out 'André Chaperon Autoresponder Madness'

    Hope it helps..

I think that while writing you have to be very engaging and innovative so you can really captivate your audience. Did you try picturing your readers and writing as if they were right in front of you?

A lot of ideas can come to you that way if you just try to make it all feel like you're giving a kind of friendly conversational lecture (this usually works for me when i don't know what to write in a blog post, so i'm assuming emails might not be that different).

Well for starters, stop affirming that you have writers block and that you can't think of anything good that relates to the lesson.

Because what you say (and think) is what you get.

Instead, before you get into your email writing, think and speak out loud how awesome your email will be and that it will convey the exact message it needs to convey to get your point across most effectively with the greatest response possible.

Say that shit out loud and MEAN IT before you write your emails and watch how good they come out.

Sounds silly, but it just may do the trick

"I don't really know how to start this email, but..."

"I'm not sure how to introduce this, but..."

"It's hard to get into this subject, but..."

    You get the idea.

Once your email is written, go up to the top and delete this part.

"I wasn't sure how to bring it up, but there's a new thing I've been doing" turns into just plain "There's a new thing I've been doing" - and there you go.

If all you have to show them is a cool lesson? People are going to be grateful that it's not some spammy email they're getting - free lessons are awesome!

So I don't know what your niche is, but let's say you were teaching someone how to use Ubersuggest to find a drilled down niche. I wouldn't feel you needed to waste time with a lot of fluff, just say something like this:

    Hi ____!

I'm working hard behind the scenes but I just discovered a neat little strategy that I wanted to share with you real quick. This is for people who _____...

Here's why I originally started doing this....

    It can help you by...

    To get started....

    (do this, do that, etc).

That's it for me today! Just wanted to share in case it helped anyone else...

    (name).

That's a very GIVING nature you have. Don't lose that!

^^^ THIS. Great template. Tweak it with your own personal style. Highlight your personality so you list content stands out from the rest of the stuff that's out there. Every little bit of differentiation counts.

Try taking a walk outside and while you do keep an open mind.
I have gotten multiple story ideas this way, just let your imagination run free.
Before you know it your brain goes like this:

Hey a hare -> That's cute -> Wait a minute, a hare.. -> turtle and the hare -> training about keeping a daily routine.

That's just to show you what can come from an open mindset and some creative thinking. Point is to be open to things that happen around you daily.

In situations like this, imagine that today you were meeting
your ideal subscriber in a bar/cafe.

What would you say to them about right now if you were
      to meet them in person?

Just write out how the imaginary conversation would go.

      Write like you talk.

To avoid writer's block in the first place, I keep a Notepad
file where I note down any e-mail ideas that I have over
      the week.

Then, if I'm stuck, I dip into my idea files to see if I can
      get some inspiration from there.

      Dedicated to mutual success,

      Shaun

Another great way to prevent writers block, is to subscribe to other well known marketers email list in your niche.

While you read through them, create a swipe file -- then copy the subject lines that attracted you the most. Chances are, if you are interested in it, so will your audience.

Then like now -- when you are not sure what to say, refer back to your swipe file and pick a headline you would like to talk about.

Another method, which would seem like common sense -- but is very powerful, is to simply ask your list what they would like to know more about.

Then simply answer their question in your follow up emails, and they will love you
