Is anyone using .co successfully yet?

My options are a hyphenated domain, or a .co domain. Which is best??? I will be using both paid and organic traffic.

I am open to all opinions.

Thanks in advance!!!!

Suzy

In the eyes of search engines it really doesn't matter. This was tested by quiet a lot of SEO professionals. Even if you take a .info, it will rank as well as a .com. On the other site, people have to most trust in .com's. I know some very successful marketer that are using .co's and it's ok. If you use hyphens, don't use more than one. They are difficult to type if you are on a mobile device. For SEO hyphens are ok.

I would love to see your links to that research. Where did you get this information from?

I will never understand why .co was ever created. It is way too close to .co and anyone with a .co has a high chance their visitors will go to .com instead.

            Yes, that's true.

It was created as the national domain-extension for Colombia.

It was only in recognition of its growing use, commercially, internationally, as a ".com alternative" that Google announced that it would treat it for all SEO purposes exactly the same as any other international TLD (they're all the same, now, for all SEO/ranking purposes, and have been for a long time).

Just as they did with the formerly geotargeted domain-extensions for Montenegro (".me") and Tuvalu (".tv").

I completely agree. That's probably the top of my own list of reasons for not using them.

No difference at all, for SEO. Personally, I'd take the hyphenated .com, every time, but for non-SEO reasons. You'll still possibly lose traffic to the owner of the unhyphenated .com, though, Suzy, so neither is ideal.

I bought one that I use and it comes up #1 in Google for the keywords that I want it to. They are not particularly difficult keywords, as it is a very specialized niche. The only thing I don't like about .co is the natural tendency to type .com rather than .co, even if it's your own domain. I've done it myself to get to this site I built on a .co

if you are not getting .com , doesn't really matter what the extension is.

.co doesn't seems to be that popular not yet at least

        "Domain extensions are tools."

If you do not understand the comment, it is not the comment that is ignorant.
