I think Google delisted/blacklisted my site

I'm not sure why, but my site totally dissapeared from Google. I don't mean it lost rankings... it is actually gone. If I search site:www.mysite.com, "I get did not match any documents," while yesterday I was ranking on the first page for many keywords and had several hundred pages indexed.

I checked my Google Webmaster tools, and there's no problems reported there. Google toolbar still shows a Page Rank (though I'm not sure that would update so fast), and I can't figure out any reason why my site would be delisted.

Has this happened to anyone before? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will magically come back, but I think if a site is delisted that means it was manually reviewed and removed from G's index by a human - so probably a slim chance of that happening.

    Hi Ryan,

It has happened to me before when my site has been down. If your hosting company experienced a temporary glitch when Google last crawled your site that Google will temporarily remove you from the index and add you back in when it next crawls your site.

Would give it day or so before you start to worry.

    Thanks,

    Andy

Thanks Andy - I hope that's the case. I think I can check my HostGator cpanel to see if there was any downtime.

    Thanks Paul,

Got an interesting result that says it is delisted and it is not delisted... hmmm

The domain name has a PageRank value of 3. The domain name DOES NOT appear to be banned.

The domain name has Backlinks and no Listings. The domain name DOES appear to be banned.

That is a strange result. Here's a page with some solid information to consider.

      Banned By Google ?(tomihasa)?

Good Luck and keep us posted.

This tool checks for PR (that you still have) and for appearance in google (that's the second result), so it appears that your site have been banned. If you can't find it with site:www.yourdomain.com , it's a bad sign.

Like nichepros said, if it is a new site, don't panic - Google is switching datacenters back and forth and it takes some time until all of them are synchronized. Just wait for a few days and it should be back.

For older domains, hundreds of pages normally do not disappear overnight just because of a glitch or a short downtime.

If it is not back within a few days, it's a good idea to:

      a) Contact Google and ask about what happened with your website.

Don't hold your breath on that, but sometimes wonders happen and you will eventually get a response.

      b) Submit a reinclusion request:

First check that your website is not implementing clear no-no's of any website (never do any of this stuff - it's just not worth it. Sooner or later Google will ban you for these techniques - either they will find it out by themself automatically or after a friendly report from your competitors):

Banned by Google: Why has Google banned my website?

After you have checked everything and removing it from your website, make sure you double check the Google's Webmaster guidelines and see if you might have violated some of these:

Webmaster guidelines - Webmasters/Site owners Help

If everything is fine, log in into your Google account and ask for a reinclusion:

      https://www.google.com/webmasters/si...nclusion?hl=en

It takes a while (anywhere from two weeks up to several months) and eventually Google will lift the penalty - or not

      Good luck !

Hey thanks, Philarmon that's helpful. The site is about 6 months old, so hopefully it's just a gliche and will come back (can only hope). There's no warnings or indication of anything bad at this point in Webmaster Tools, so hoping that's good news.
