WHatever Happened to Odesk ?

I use to use Odesk for outsourcing basic SEO and other tasks. A few weeks ago I posted for a position in Reputation Management. Odesk removed it without details why. I then posted it again specifying "White Hat Only Methods" and they removed it again. I sent several emails to support, then chatted live and the rep said she escalated my case and they would contact me within 48 hours, but No response. I sent additional requests but 2 weeks later no response. WHat the heck happened with Odesk ??

Try posting in their support forum. Come back and update us as I would like to know if there are some rules I am unaware of.

Yes, I got the standard "canned" email with a list of reasons of "Maybe why" my post was deleted. I opened a support ticket (actually two of them) to find out exactly WHY it was deleted. . But, very bizarre, they will not respond. I even communicated via Live Chat and the rep assured me she was immediately escalating it and I would hear back in 48 hours. That was two weeks ago. I just gave up..??

I DID get the email to Rate their support performance and I gave them a 1, and stated "never got a response". They didn;t even reply to that..? Very strange.

Odesk has a very bad costumer support. I suggest to user other sites like elance etc.

I have $6000 hanging in oDesk for last couple of months are they are't responding.

I'm interested in the reason why as well. Was there anything on the "generic list" that your posting might have fallen under?

That's usually the case if you've contacted support (either through chat/phone), they will always escalate the issue to a tier 2/3 rep or even to a manager yet the issue will be buried and will not be entertained until you call again for the same issue. If you email them again, you will get the same canned response and will promise you that they will resolve the issue within 24-48 hours. I wonder if they are really doing something to help you or they're just making you pissed.

That's happened to me 2 days ago - I posted a regular job that I used to post in the past and they deleted it - twice!

When I opened a ticket, got this:

"Thank you for contacting oDesk Support. We are currently experiencing a high volume of tickets and apologize for the delay in responding to your request."

DeborahDera - You can see their job posting policy here:
      https://www.odesk.com/info/terms/client-policies/

So I guess they are kind of busy there... maybe they change some of the job posting policy or just get more strict about it.

I just message one of my old contractors regarding this and solve it by posting general VA job.

All I can say is Very Bizarre. I just gave up and posted all my jobs at Elance. I had been using Odesk for the past few years, but guess its time to move on..

I am not sure what is wrong with them.

I posted two jobs over the last 2 weeks one for virtual assistant (customer support) and the other for programming task. Both got deleted automatically, never get an explanation.

It is not the first time I hire VA on the site and never had this issue before, I think they are getting missy over there.

I hate to talk to their customer support, they are pretty rude. I just repost them on Elance

The same thing happened to me... received the email with all the reasons why it could have been deleted and did the live chat too... So strange. I needed someone to post blog articles and facebook posts.

I went over to Elance as my programmer signed up there and they even have a phone #.

I used Odesk for a few years too... Guess it was time for a change :-)

Why don't you post a simple job and see what happen.
That might give you some indication if the problem was
    the job or your account.

That's funny actually... because I'm pretty outlandish with my postings and emails. I'll post one here if you want. I push the envelope on the "form" job posting and border-line cuss in my post. All to attract a "certain" kind of writer. Never had an issue. Actually have had a very positive response from the community and found some awesome writers.
