Don't underestimate the old good fashion methods

Some of them are the base, the foundation for getting traffic while adding value.

I use Yahoo Answers, it bring some visitors to my site. I don't throwing links all over, just once in a while.

Cannot really tell if you don't give any basic picture what the method is all about.

If the method is answering related questions and provide links, yes, it is still do-able but you need to be very, very careful.

I agree with what the others said. I haven't answered any questions on Yahoo Answers in ages, but I still get traffic from there.

However, unless you post a lot of answers, you may not get the amount of traffic you're looking for. And you definitely need to be careful. If Yahoo suspects you're using their site for personal gain, they'll shut down your account.

If people ask questions on yahoo answers then the post them for a reason, they want information, and in this case they want answers.

If you post the answers and websites for more information then you should try it.

Don't spam, provide value in your answers.

It still works, but Yahoo isn't afraid to put you in your place if you're dropping links everywhere and they're all pointing back to your sites.

If you can put up some content on different sites, Youtube videos, hubpages, squidoo.. stuff like that.. send the traffic to those pages first who will read your content, click through to your site and be more willing and open to continue doing so on your site because they enjoy your style of writing and flow of your content.

I used to do a bit of Yahoo Answers marketing and it did work well. However you might find if you post in the make money online niche...it might not be Yahoo who comes after you, but other people who are doing the same thing. I lost an account in good standing this way as competitors reported me.

I personally use Yahoo Answer and get tons of traffic from there, Most of my answers are ranked in Google and sending me good amount of traffic.

The only way to survive with Yahoo Answers is to contribute to the community,
only put your site link in the relevant Answers.
Always find some general questions, answer them without putting your site's link,
after few question and answer, find questions / answers related to your niche and give a detailed answer there and put your site link in a natural way that it won't look like you are spamming.
If you don't spam Yahoo community, trust me, you will last there for long.

I still use YahooAnswers (and some other answer sites) to give genuine answers. I not only link to my sites, but to articles I've done on other sites (guest posts) and sometimes to third-party authority sites. If your account, in general, is in good standing, people will trust you more.

Sometimes you can be flagged and thrown off yahoo answers if your site is a blatant sales site. If you have an informational site with ads sprinkled in, then you are okay. Also, your answers should be to go to your site. You should give high quality answers and then place your site in the resource section. It's time consuming but if that question you answer turns out to be a top google result and your answer is votes number one, then it can really bring in traffic.

If it depends, by some strange chance, on putting affiliate links into answers at YA then the answer's a large, loud, clear, perfectly-formed "no".

As others have said, yahoo answers is still a great way to bring traffic to your site, if you do it correctly.

Try to space out your links you send back to your site, by answering some questions with no links, and others with links to different websites.

Also, never put a link within your answer, always in the resource box.

Most old traffic generating techniques still work. Don't brush off a traffic generating technique just because it appears to be outdated. Most techniques that worked back in 2005 still work today and will continue to work for the foreseeable future.

Having said that, you didn't give us any details about your strategy. Is it simply answering questions and leaving a link back to your website? If so, yes, that is a great way to bring in some extra traffic. Start testing and let us know how it goes!

One important thing to remember is to not just link to your website, link to a specific page with specific information related to the question. If you just send them to your homepage and there is nothing about the specific question on that homepage it will look like spam. Yahoo answers has alot of "Spam Police" that love to report answers.

If you do this right you definitely can get traffic. Yahoo answers rank well in Google and a lot of people use the service to get answers to their questions. Just try not to be spammy or anything like that. Also you will need to have a certain level account to be able to put live links in an answer. Hope you have lots of success!

Yahoo Answers still works. Some niches are more spammed than others. So standing out from the crowd of IM spammers can be difficult.

In the niches that I work in, so long as I provide an informative response to visitor's questions, I can count on receiving traffic from Yahoo Answers.

The traffic takes time to build up to anything useful. So, if you are using this as your only means of generating traffic, I would considering adding other sources to the mix.

yahoo answers is great resource to get free organic traffic. But you must get some creditability on yahoo before getting approved.

Winning the best answer is't easy. But once you get there, you can get a lot of free traffic from organic searches for long term.

I am getting about 300 traffic from Yahoo Answers per day, but these days they banned my accounts more and more frequently. I promise I am answering the questions pretty seriously.

So if you are going to devote lots of time on Yahoo Answers, I should say it might not as efficient as the old days.

It can work, if you are careful enough so Yahoo won't spot the real reason behind that- personal gain. One thing you should do is actually provide useful answers to people, so you can subtly add your links.

Yahooanswer was once my best source of getting decent traffic to my site until they suspended my account. Be careful in providing links. Avoid posting links (especially affiliate links) on your signature if you want your account safe. Make sure you provide helpful answers to the community so yahooanswer moderators won't keep their eye on you. Nevertheless, it gives good decent traffic.

I've recently tried Yahoo Answers for bringing traffic to my blog and got really angry. There is an option to report abuse in front of every question and answer there and once someone clicks it your post is immediately removed and 10 points are deducted from your account in a sec. Anyone can delete your quality posts for whatever reason it is and you're punished by losing points. Of course, you can appeal the deletion to the customer care but you'll be waiting for their reply and decision for ages.

I helped 20 people on Yahoo Answers with their business problems, my answers were chosen as best answers and I was thanked by the askers. But a couple days later, most of my answers and some of those questions made by those people were reported and deleted. Sincerely, I didn't post any spam or junk, I didn't answer spammy questions, I didn't violate the community guidelines. All I did - I tried to deliver as much value as possible, honestly.

I was punished for helping good people. Why? Because I put links in the source box. Those links were not spam absolutely. I gave people links to my best articles. One link per answer, no ads or pitches or something. Most people insert salesy liks in resource boxes and feel OK. Some users can report your answer chosen as best just because of the envy. They're jealous to see your answer picked as best instead of theirs.

Anyone can delete what you contribute. Anyone can annihilate the results of your hard work. Don't waste your time there.

For example: "How to get huge traffic running a podcast? http://yourdomain.com/podcasting". They flagged me more often when I put titles. If I'm not allowed to use titles how do I actually attract visitors to my blog? I started using links without telling people what they are for and received no more traffic from Yahoo Answers. But anyway my answers kept on getting reported.

Some YA moderators are so over-glorified *******s (LOL) that even linking to a site such as WIKIPEDIA got my answers banned!

It was a health related question and some High Level members were offering some websites in resource box...My answer was to first check reputable sites like WIKIpedia and then click all those affiliate links....bahm...i got flagged and the affiliate links of other people were fine!

I almost sure that mods have lots fo other accounts that they post answers with and use their own aff links...you cant beat that!

So i stay away from Forex/Dog training/Love/Make Money/Health sections of YA!
