Is hostgator down for anyone?

Hello,

I have website hosting with hostgator. I am not able to log into cpanel and none of my sites load up on any browser.

Does anyone have this issue right now?

      From their Twitter...

Please be aware of Softlayer's maintenance on Dal7 and Hou2 tonight! DC Network Maintenance :: 7/10/2013: 12AM-8AM
      ... sucks

Also just got off phone with them, it was rather sudden maintenance on a several servers according to the support rep I spoke with.

Overall I have had so few problems with over 200 sites with them that I am a very happy hostgator client, so will give them benefit of the doubt, but if things like this become the norm then yeah I'd lose my loyalty.

Oh well, off to bed instead of a late night of site building lol.

Yes, same has the problem with me also. Does anyone know how long Hostgator might take to solve this problem? Just before 3 hours back everything was fine but now none of the sites are opening. Please share your views.

Mine are all working ok. Usually when there are issues like this it only affects a certain amount of servers. Luck of the draw.

All I can say is I have been with Hostgator for about 8 years now (I think) and have been very pleased with their service.

    Hello,

Maybe a good idea can be create a group and rent a fast dedicated server. Then condivide the server. It is necessary one person with good linux skills to manage the server.
I rent many dedicated server from softlayer (is the same where hostgator use to rent) from 2009 and i'm very happy with them for the last 4 years. At 2007/2008 i use to rent servers from hostgator.

Share a server with strangers is not safe, one people can destabilize the server.
Rent old and cheap servers is not a good idea too. Make an automatic backup to another server is a good practice. Share a server with one spammer is not a good idea. The main ip of the server can go to spam blacklist and all emails sent for the server will be problem with spam rejection, because all emails sent by one server have also the main ip of the server at header.

Keep the server overloaded is not a good practice also.

    Regards,

    Bill

My hostgator acct is currently down, has been for about ~30 min now. Hopefully back up soon but from prior posts looks like they have a day of rolling updates going on today.

Beside the maintenance from SL, remember that HG is migrating customers to their own servers in Utah. Check with them for more information on your account activity.

^This. It seems so many people left in the dark about this. Typical though of EIG to do everything in secret. Everything is being moved to BlueHost. It's certainly not an "upgrade".

My hostgator sites are all running, but I did notice something interesting: the name servers listed in cpanel have changed. I checked my domains and they are still running the old name servers. Maybe they haven't killed off my sites on the old servers yet and tomorrow I'll be in the same boat as the rest of you.

They probably had node or server problems, and then quickly ported them over to functional servers.

fyi: this site will tell you if a site is down for everyone or just you.
