Why logo Designing is becoming one if the essentials

i wonder why logo designing is becoming on of the essential these days. its due to increased consumer awareness regarding branding, or just people love these symbol to remember the product ?

      I got my own logo software that I purchased and I can spend hours just designing different versions and color adjustments.

    A lot of logo designers and business consultants will tell you that people remember graphics better than names. A graphic is something they see and it offers them an instant recall of the product or service; where sometimes a simple name may not register as quickly. People often associate the logo they see with a quality assumption (hence, a lot of companies rebrand when they need to change their image).

    It's not the ONLY part of a good brand, but it is an important part.

    Logos, in and of themselves, are fine. The problem is that people fall in love with their logo and think everyone else should love it as well. The truth is, your customer or potential customer cares little to none about your logo. Your customer wants to know what your business is going to do for them, so that should be the main message you put out front.

    The long and the short (IMO) is that a great logo won't make your business a success, but a crappy-looking logo could hurt your business.

      yeah, I agree - that's why I was perplexed by the use of the word "essential". A good business plan is waaaay more essential than a logo in my opinion.

      Things can work with a good business plan and a bad logo, it's far more unlikely they'll work the other way round ;-)

    I don't think a particular logo is really essential at all.

    Here's the deal: as an internet marketer your biggest problem is getting your customers to trust you. Anything that helps with that I would consider essential (or pretty damn important, anyway). Logos don't fall into that category, though. On my own websites, switching logos (and other style elements) has never really resulted in a big increase in sales. In fact, it's one of the things I specifically tell people not to spend much time on in my ebook.

    Sure, take a little time to get a logo that looks professional, but don't obsess over it. It's not that important. Don't really think that branding per se is all that important either, unless you're a really large business. Spend the money and time on other stuff with a higher (and measurable) ROI.

      this definitely is good advice - "branding" is something that only bigger firms need to consider essential.

      Smaller businesses should definitely focus on *measurable* objectives and results.

      I liked Sushiman's quote.. and I agree. Don't get sidetracked. Unless you are in the "graphics" business... a logo is something you should outsource and spend your valuable time on "stuff" that makes your business money.

    Best way to get a logo is 99designs. Describe what you want, offer a prize of a few hundred bucks, and get hundreds of submissions. I will never pay hourly for logo work or use a single designer, doesn't make any sense.
