    Hi AffiliateRG,

Here are a few basic steps just to get you started.

    1) Decide on a niche that interests you.
    2) Do some keyword research on that niche using Google's External Keyword tool
    3) Get yourself a free WordPress blog at WordPress.com
    4) Install a theme and a SEO plugin
    5) Select a product from Clickbank based on your keyword research
    6) Write a review on the product and make it your home page
    7) Include a video review which you need to load on YouTube and imbed on your review page
    8) Start mentioning it on your Social Media Accounts

That's the free route.Once you have some experience you need to start learning about the different ways of driving traffic to the site, both free and paid.

Thanks for the info Di much appreciated! Could I used blogger instead of Wordpress, which is the better of the two in terms of ranking well in Google?

Regarding the social media. I already have some accounts set up with Facebook and Twitter which I have for personal use. Would you recommend I set up additional accounts with these specifically for business use to do my affiliate marketing?

You can use Blogger but I don't know about the rankings as far as Google is concerned. What I do know is that having a video on YouTube will help with rankings as long as you have your keywords in the title and description. SEO is a whole new learning curve for you

With regards to the social media accounts that is a decision you have to make. People like to do business with people that they know and trust. Perhaps setup a Facebook Page for that particular niche but you need to get REAL fans and that takes time. Do not use use a Fiver gig to get false likes. It's a waste of money.

        Hope that helps.

Yes, very helpful thanks Di. Can you give me some advice on how to create a video for Youtube, do I need some specific video software for this? Also, would I need to first buy the affiliate product I have chosen to promote in order to be able to review it?

Regarding the content of my blogs... I am not particularly great at writing stuff do you know of anywhere I could get some free articles/content from?

Also, would you advise I try to keep the same username for all my social media accounts?

          Thanks for your help Di.

I'm not Di, but I thought I would chime in. When it comes to YT videos, I've heard that many people like to use Windows Movie Maker that's already installed on PCs. I wouldn't recommend looking for free content because lots of times, it's crap. In addition to that, it's probably been used thousands of times, which means that it won't help you to rank.

You don't have to be a great writer -- just decent. It's not like writing for English class but rather a friend. Ideally, you should buy the product you're going to review, but it's pretty easy to review a physical product that's been out for a while. You shouldn't be plagiarizing, though. It won't be of any benefit to you.

            Good luck,
            Joey

You can simply follow this steps without step 3. Use blogger.com for your learning phase. Then get your own TLD and hosting with detailed plan.

Wow guys thanks so much for the advice it's so useful and I can see I made a wise decision joining this forum! I have so many questions to ask as it's all so complicated... :p

Is anyone on here making a decent income from blogging? If so, please would you send me a link to your blog so I can get some useful tips on the design, content and layout?

Another thing... would it be best to promote one product on my blog page or any number of them? I don't want my blog to look like an advertising/banner site as I feel this would put alot of people off. What are your thoughts guys?

        Thanks,

        Richard

Any Google related product or site including Blogger (with blog subdomains) and Google+ pages get indexed quickly and always provide good link juice and traffic (if linked to a main non-Google related site). Otherwise they rank well.

1 basic thing that you need to remember before getting any further.
I recommend you to get along with the trend. Get into industry/ something that's in the trend, people are already spending money on that.

If you tap into the wrong industry, affiliate marketing won't be successful

Hi Richard, in the case of ClickBank products there are no great ways of doing it literally for free, as an autoresponder's essential (yes: "essential", not just "desirable") and it's a huge mistake to start with a free one.

You can get websites and hosting free, but not (effectively) an autoresponder, and you probably won't make sales, as a beginner, without that. So having $15/$20 to get started is close-to-essential, really.

Here are two posts/threads which may help you ...

A newsagent's shop: if people are spending money to buy magazines about a particular market/niche, then it's "in trend".

If I were just starting off, and intending to promote ClickBank products, I'd stay well away from anything that's "in trend", myself. When I actually started, in 2008, I didn't know this and made the mistake of trying to identify products in high-selling niches. Understandably enough, I didn't make any sales of them and kind of had to abandon what I was doing and "start again" a few months later. The difficulty for the beginning marketer with "products/niches in trend" is that the traffic you need to attract, one way or another, to make any eventual sales, is the very same traffic which tens of thousands of successful pro-affiliates (some of them with huge daily AdWords budgets, and so on) are also attracting. Who do you think's going to do better, in that scenario?

Ultimately it's about whether you want to sell jeans or skating videos (just a little metaphor). The big mistake is to try to sell something that everyone else is already selling. That stacks the deck well against you. It's really important to understand this, and it typically saves a lot of wasted time and energy, if you understand it before you start!

The people who aren't as successful as they'd like, in this context, aren't people who "don't take action": they're people who set off in the wrong direction.

Just be careful there. Sometimes if there are not high sales it might be because there is not high demand.

Do keyword research on google adwords, and change it from broad to exact, to see the type of market for that niche.

There is always scope for sales in untapped niches but just do lots of research first beforehand..

First, IM is no hobby or quick way to make a buck. It takes work, sweat, getting knocked down and then getting back up to be successful with IM.

If your going to spend the time and make a decision to be successful with this then your best off leverging your marketing efforts when it comes to that time and build yourself a list.

Internet Marketing is all about supply and demand. Researching your markets and niches and choosing one to get started with. When you pick your market and niche there are a couple of ways to do this but the easiest in my opinion would be to pick a product in the marketplace and maybe even buy the product but what you want to do is build a landing page (squeeze page) offering something of value that you learned or they might even have something in the affiliate resouce area and you give this away for free adding your full product as a one time offer. That will cover your cost and time. Then you have a list you can talk with and then market other products you feel they would benefit from.

Or just create a blogger blog around your product and pick a couple of traffic strategies and hopefully you'll pick SEO as one.

There are 3 basics steps as a few others have mentioned before me to make real money with affiliate marketing.

    1. First find a profitable niche. This means you are looking for market where people are already spending money (how to fix back pain.)

    2. Create a website and collect emails. Your main focus should always be to build your email list of people interested in your niche

    3. Promote products. Once people are on your list -- then provide them with massive free value and promote products along the way.

As far as driving traffic to your website I would pick 1 or 2 methods and become a master of them. A great example is forum marketing.

If you do really well in this -- you can drive thousands of visitors to your website with this one method alone.
