I have done my research for keyword and after nearly 10 days of watching videos and playing around with software I believe I have found an good keyword to start with.

However I am stuck with the domain part and here is the situation

lets say my keyword is

Egg Meat Fish Bread (don't laugh it isn't!)

but the domain isn't available

EggMeatFishBread in .com, .net or .org

would you buy something like

xxxxEggMeatFishBread.com replace xx with something like My, Your, Good etc..

or would you instead buy

EggMeatFish.org and put bread as sub directory?

EggMeatFish.org/bread/

Thanks

  • Hello tasticz,

I think you're on the right track with the my/your/best etc modifier at the beginning.

You could also consider hyphenating ie egg-meat-fish-bread.com

    Best of luck!

    • Not many Gurus like "best" etc before the domain names; these are purely sales tactics from the domain name registrars to sale more and more domain names.

Better to get a catchy and brand able domain name and make the others as sub ones. Just my thought

There's no benefit any longer to Exact Match Domains so you could register any domain, including a brandable domain and accomplish the same thing with your site and have a better domain name for it.

    • Thanks for your reply, I read through the articles it does make sense.

I assume this is already in place right now right?

  • Don't think about getting EMD. I would recommend you to get something brand able.
  • As with the others said, you can also use the whole keyword, or use parts of it and add "info" or "center" etc to the back.
  • I think the My, Your, Perfect are all..well...perfect.

Of course, if it also my understanding that having the keywords in meta-tags and within the site can work almost as well as having them in the domain if you have good SEO.

    • but what would you personally go for?

  • Having keyword in the domain name is a good idea but I don't think it is the most important. What matters is the content that is provided in the website and the marketing activities that are being done to drive traffic to the website. This are the things that will get the visitors to read the content and take action on it.
