Where to get software ideas?

INTERNET MARKETING

I have a programmer working for me. We are getting close to the end of this project. A plugin for WP. But I am drawing a blank as to what to do next.

Where do I go for ideas? Or what should I do to generate ideas on new software projects. This person does many different types of programming, so i am not limited to plugins, but that is where my mind goes most of the time as that is where I work.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You can search download.com and type in keywords of your interest,

and see what softwares/widgits they have listed.

Check out the popular ones with a high ratings too.

That is one way to research

The programing, implementation and marketing take some skill, but the real magic comes in the idea, doesn't it?

Perhaps look for tools that use free APIs and the millions of ideas that could come from those integrations with the likes of Twitter, FB, or any of the oodles of possibilities.

If I were you, I would create an ad that promotes and sells bacon books.

Or how about a program that finds forums and works to recognize jokes and automatically inserts a Hiyoooo! after ever joke.

Or here is a good one... track new words as they are entered onto "urban dictionary" and use the data to analyze hot words over time.

There any number of small silly things to big awesome things that are just waiting to be thought up and someone to execute. Then, if someone can monotize it, good on them!

I would say look around the forum and look for what most people are asking for. What problems people are having?

Then you will start to generate ideas for software that will literally sell itself.

Other than that, team up with me. Let's do a JV! I have a few ideas that could make great products/wsos...

I get my ideas from two places:

1. Forums where people are looking for scripts to do certain types of functionality
2. Freelance type sites where people are looking for types of products developed

Most of the scripts and applications I sell or give away on my site were generated from the two above methods.
