How Can I Monetize This Blog Idea?

Hello:

As I try to decide on a new and exciting venture to take, I started brainstorming a list of potential websites which would be new, solve problems, be fun, be of value, be unique, etc.

I came up with a list of 9 website ideas. They are all in one way or another related to one of my passions/hobbies.

Seeing as how I already run a large website which will need funding to fix, I unfortunately do not have the startup resources necessary at this moment to begin one of these new sites, as they are all very large in scale.

So, instead of capitalizing off of a new and unique website, I thought it may be cool to instead start a blog detailing these new website ideas. Each new post of the blog could elaborate on a new and unique website concept, with lots of good content containing ideas for the sites for people to put into action.

I'm sure blogs out there like this exist. The reason that I like this idea, is because I have found the content to be FUN to write about, and I am confident that the website ideas I have come up with so far can be successful with the proper structure.

And because each post will be about a website idea that I've come up with, the content will be fresh and original, and each post has the potential to be very content-rich, packed with ideas and concepts for the each new website.

So, my problem is that I am unsure how to monetize such a blog. I know that some are believers in just blindly starting blogs about one of your passions, and the money will appear if the content is good, but I like to know beforehand if the site has potential in earning with Adsense, Amazon, Affiliate campaigns, etc.

Could anyone see a case for and/or against putting time into a blog like this? With proper investigation (KW research, in-depth content of great quality and many long-tail KWs, etc.) does starting this kind of a blog have potential to earn money?

Thanks so much for any and all information. I am losing my mind from boredom and I really want to begin writing content for SOMETHING asap!!

I say that you need to go with your gut. If you have already done some basic keyword research and own a good domain then it's worth it. You can aways monetize with adsense and see how that goes. Then when traffic picks you can add cpa networks or sell ad space to others on a monthly basis or per views. Future things like writing your own book or private news letters for your best ideas (subscription) will always bring in money too. Any idea can be turned into a great idea with proper implementation!

Monetizing blogs is a challenge, and many top bloggers will tell you that if you start blogging with the intent of making money from the blog itself, you'll find yourself frustrated and overworked with very little to show for it.

Be more patient. You have something that sounds like an interesting idea. Put it out there. Write it out, make it happen, explore. You won't get paid for it immediately, but it will set you up to have interesting conversations with people who may then set you up for something more interesting. Who knows. Implement your idea, and figure things out along the way.

    Good luck!

If you have the knowledge and the ideas, seems it would be much more profitable to make a paid product and sell that. Instead of giving it all away for free and then trying to make money from it. Like how-to guides you could sell.

Plus, doubt you going to make much with adsense, more so in most hobby niches. Also, would the ads even be relevant?

    Just a thought

Unless I misunderstood what your asking.

Adsense and Amazon on a Make Money Online style blog is a bad idea. The click rates are low, and the payouts are sad. Maybe... promoting Amazon books would work though, but the payouts are still low.

Your best bet for something like this is to sell the ideas, after you've got a few out there and testimonials from people who have profited... you can start attracting affiliates and increasing your sales with contests and affiliate events.

You'd be teaching people how to 'make money online' so most of your basic stuff would apply... you'd want to focus on email marketing and building a relationship as someone who puts out damn good content for a good price.
