What examples of fear can be used as a motivator?

Hey guys, I know that marketers use fear to instill a sense of urgency in the lead, etc. "Only 2 spots left". But I'm wondering related to landing pages, what other fear tactics can you use besides verbal tactics. One example I thought of is a countdown..Countdowns almost always make people click right away. Any other non verbal tactics that can be used to instill fear in your client besides a countdown?

5 Minutes Before This Offer Goes Away FOREVER!

    Waits 2 minutes.

3 Minutes Before This Offer Goes Away FOREVER!

Still, test it out. Sometimes the dumbest ideas are pretty effective. Opinions don't make good marketers or good teachers out of marketers. Results do.

One of the best converting links I've ever put up was a giant red button that said, "Do Not Click This Button"

You might consider that a fear tactic.

If you're going the countdown route, I'd recommend sticking to your plan. If the offer disappears in 5 minutes.. make it really disappear in 5 minutes and then offer another signup to maybe get something else and then get the free report the next day with another warning that in another 5 minutes it's ALL gone. And then in 5 minutes swipe your offers.

There's a few wordpress plugins that can do that for you.

They tried to tell me I couldn't make money online unless I had a war room membership - LOL.

Scarcity coincides with invoking fear in your prospects. Like if you really hype up a product and say there are only 2 copies left before you close it for good then they're worried they might not be able to hop on this good deal in the future.

Fear about death in the weight loss niche also comes to mind.

Fear is one of the most leveraged emotions in marketing. But using it wrongly backfires.

What you must realize is that the prospect must believe that it is a valid fear. You can do them by:

    1. Writing a reason for the scarcity. Make sure it is believable. For example, you can say that the offer expires in 24 hours because you're throwing out a birthday offer.

    2. Fear paralyzes. Hope motivates. Fear and hope must come hand-in-hand. Make sure that you show the prospect a hassle-free and fast way to eliminate that fear.

    3. Split-testing. A/B test your headlines, rotate variations of words used.

Fire me a pm if you have a question. I build businesses and provide consulting. I do not do finance/money/internet marketing niches. Fitness, self-improvement and various others are welcome.
