Traffic drop after DNS change?

I have just change my site DNS and traffic was as usual.

Then suddenly after 24 hours my traffic drop to almost non existing when it is usually high at that particular time at G.analytics.

I check my rankings and I am also not at my SWEET usual ranking spot..

Ah! Is this natural for rankings to fluctuate after DNS change?

I've seen this happen on a couple on a couple of occasions. The first time, I finally attributed it to a change of Google's algorithm at almost exactly the same time.

However, I'm not not suggesting that to be your case, just something to think about.

On the second occasion, DNS propagation took more than a week to complete, I've no idea why. Check in your GA report if traffic from a particular geographical region has decreased. If so, you can investigate further using a web proxy server from that region.

Also, make sure that if your host is using a DNS cluster for your domain, that the new IP is correctly updated in the DNS zone.
