Hi. Does anyone know if YouTube allow you to post your affiliate link in the text just beneath your video?

Thanks
Richard

Not directly, but indirectly would not be frowned upon. When I say "indirectly", I am saying you need to have a website or landing page instead of actually directing them straight to the affiliate.

A point to note is that an affiliate that redirects to another domain, such as the ones handed out by CPA networks, would definitely be frowned up. You would get away with an affiliate link that resolved to the domain shown in the URL and did not redirect to another domain.

However, saying that, it is best to have your own domain with further info, and then place the affiliate link there. A link from YouTube to further content is the way to go, you'll get more clicks from YouTube in any case.

can anyone point out where does it say that you can't put aff links in the description of your videos?

I've seen this answer more than once in different threads, but anytime I ask to see where it says so - silence. No one can tell me. I've never seen anything about not posting aff links in description whenever I went through youtube's rules and regulation, but I'd like to know if I was wrong...

So is everyone just making this up for funs, or is someone actually saying it based on facts (ie. link me the youtube page where it says so) and not just because it's fun to spread random rumours?

    thx

you can put any link whatsoever on YOUR uploaded you tube videos, just make sure the video is ok,

you tube does not care about the description.

Yes you can. It's how I make money.

Just don't SPAM the link. Use a maximum of 2 per video.

I have a million youtube vids out there (maybe a slight exaggeration), and I direct link to affiliate offers in many of my vids. I just use Tinyurl with keyword vanity.

Don't get me wrong, often times I link to my own pages, but I link directly to the offer as well sometimes.

So yes, you can definitely do this.

Affiliated links are against you-tube TOS 4d Only those who have not been caught using them yet will say that they are ok. The others have already lost their channels over them.
I am a youtube forum tc and I could not count how many channels I have seen taken down because they had affiliated links. It is fine to have a related link to a page. But you could lose your channel if you are making money from someone just clicking any link in your description. Here is it right out of YT's TOS

Using affiliate links on YouTube is a violation of terms of service 4.D:

You agree not to use the Service for any of the following commercial uses unless you obtain YouTube's prior written approval:
    • the sale of access to the Service;
    • the sale of advertising, sponsorships, or promotions placed on or within the Service or Content; or
    • the sale of advertising, sponsorships, or promotions on any page of an ad-enabled blog or website containing Content delivered via the Service, unless other material not obtained from YouTube appears on the same page and is of sufficient value to be the basis for such sales.
