hi,

i am having difficulty uploading the mike filsaime's
custom PROMO TOOLS PAGE...i am talking about the
member.area.promo.tools.php that is CUSTOM MADE by mike filsaime...

i spent the WHOLE DAY editing it today...

and when i uploaded it to my website:
the file is:
member.area.promo.tools.php

but when i do it, everything comes out
BUT the affilaite link does not generate...
instead, it just says:

{aff_link}

instead of the real affiliate link
i guess i uploaded it incorrectly...

how do i upload the customer promo tool correctly so it WORKS?

BJ

ps...if someone can help me SOLVE this first, i will pay $10 in paypal..
pm me at...i will pay AFTER it is solved...

Are you sure you are editing the correct file?

Is it member.area.promo.tools.html which is in the templates directory.

If you edit the php file and put the tags, they won't be parsed. Only the html files get parsed for tags.

    i meant member.area.promo.tools.php
it is in the main butterfly marketing directory (NOT templates directory)

    yes, i edited everything...and looks good...but the affiliate URL is not generated...just says {aff_link}

all i did was upload my edited
    member.area.promo.tools.php
to the main directory (where i have my BFM site)...

it shows up obviously but 2 problems:
    1) the affiliate URL does not generate
    2) the menu doesn't show up (menu on top such as login, logout, promo tools, etc)

and anyone could figure it out and it works, i will send $10 immediately...i know
    it's not much...but hey...you could buy a large pizza with that...=)

    thanks!

As dan pointed out - I do not think the php file is parsed, so nothing will happen with the {aff_link} tag.

I hate to say this, but I'm pretty sure you were supposed to edit the template file.

    Thanks guys!

    i figured it out....

the problem was...i was trying to replace the PHP version (in main directory)
when i should have REPLACED the HTML version (in templates directory)

thanks everyone...especially dan for this question and the other BFM related question...i couldn't find people who knew or would answer from the bfm catepillar site but you did...i really appreciate it...more than you think...

thank you...now i can get started with my first BFM site...thanks!
