Found a niche... what next?

Decided on a niche which is going to be planted aquariums because its something I am very interested in anyway. I plan on setting up a wordpress site with regular articles and also youtube videos.

How should I monetize my site when its up and running? I found a couple of affiliate programmes with ecommerce sites but % are not high. I was also thinking about Amazon products but again low percentage and product prices are generaly not that high.

I will also write an eboom or two for free and also build a list but then how do I make money from my list in my niche? Just promote products from amazon and other affiliate websites as I cant see that having a big return.

I was thinking of setting my own ecommerce site up in a year or 2 if things went well with the website.

I would have thought it was quite an expensive hobby, are the product prices on Amazon really all low?

Personally I really like Amazon as an affiliate programme to work with - it's a big name that people trust so if you can get them to click through to Amazon then it's very likely the sale will be completed. Also the % might look low but it rises on volume sales so if there are some low cost items you can encourage readers to buy in large volumes then you get a greater % applied to the high cost low volume sales too.

If you're planning on writing a couple of books then give Kindle some thought as that's also a great way to make some passive income.

    Good luck!

You just broke rule #2 of the Internet Maeketing Fight Club-- Never reveal your niche.

I just broke rule #1 by telling you this rule....

If your prospects are building aquariums, it might be a long-term relationship. It could be worthwhile to start up building a lead database (aka your email list), and promoting all sorts of high-quality aquarium products.

You can go into fish... Those gadgets that bubble oxygen into the tanks (Forgot what they were called... respirators?)... I'm pretty sure the market in this aspect is pretty huge and competitive.

I am also interested in this sort of industry. The reptile one but I wouldn't use it to make money online as apart from the equipment needed to set up the tanks etc there isn't much opportunity for monetisation.

There are plenty of Amazon super affiliates and regular affiliate earning a tidy sum.

    Hi,

Have you really drilled down into this to see if you can make enough
    sales from your efforts.

    Is the market big enough?

Is it a here today gone tomorrow market?

Do you think you could build a list around this niche?

Me personally I don't know anything about this niche so that
is why I've asked these questions.

I just hope you know your numbers and that there are plenty of
    buying customers to target.

Good luck and all the best with it my friend.

    Regards
    Gavin
