I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right forums but does anybody know if a person can actually be sued for running a Facebook related scam campaign.

similar to what's described here Facebook Shoes Like-Farming Scam

Facebook doesn't have any contact options, apart from reporting the page/s, there can't be done much about it.

The same scam can appear as if they're giving away hundreds of Ipads, Imacs, Iphones and so on.

I have fallen into this scam, and they're charging my mobile phone. It's a total scam, there no prize to be won and there is no draw to win the Imac or whatever.

I have all the details about the users that are running these campaigns.

Basically the whole scheme is about fooling people to complete surveys or complete an install in order to enter the draw. The people that enter the scam are charged tens, hundreds of dollars a month in some cases in exchange for some crappy ring-tones, wall-papers and so on.

    Caveat: IANAL

People get sued for breaking the law - if these people ARE breaking the law, they can be sued irrespective of whether or not they are using the Facebook name (note the clever use of the word 'if' in there).

Additionally, use of the Facebook name may also constitute a trademark infringement, for which they could also get sued.

hi Will, thanks for your response.

In fact, they're not using Facebook's name, they're just using the plaform to launch the famous hoaxes that go viral, conning and lying people that they'd get a free ipad, imac or whatever.

Basically they're using Apple's name for conning purposes, getting people to sign up for surveys and such.

The scheme looks something like this - they use fake identities, including fake IP's (proxies), they basically go all the way blackhat, promise the "WORLD" to the people and these people actually spend dollars and in return they receive nothing (it's all arranged so the facebook users fall into the scam to fill out the surveys).
