Hostgator was causing me problems with too much downtime. Also, they shut my main money site down TWICE because they complained it was using up too many resources (server load issues).
It's a simple wordpress site with 23 plugins, getting 2,000 hits a day. I went through all of their tips on how to optimize my site, even installed wordpress super cache, and they still weren't happy.
I had enough the second time round, and decided to ditch Hostgator.
In their defense, Hostgator always had great technical support. Their live chat was awesome.
I've already unfortunately had one bad experience with CrocWeb's live chat. I asked a question about how to check that the nameservers had been transferred over to CrocWeb, and the guy told me... "please contact technical support, this is live chat"...
What the hell? I thought live chat was all about the support? So next time I'll contact live chat just to have a chat, I'll open up the window and say "Yo, what's up dude, how's your day going? Man, you wouldn't believe what happened to me the other day..."
Anyway, Hostgator never did that to me, but what's really important is that they DON'T KEEP SHUTTING DOWN MY MAIN MONEY SITE! That's all I care about.
Only been a day on CrocWeb, but you're welcome to ask me how it's going later down the line.
