When I leave Skype on, every time anybody that I have in contacts goes on line I get a pop-up. I'd like to block those pop-ups except for people that I am (or hope to) doing current business with, without removing all the rest from contacts. Any way to do this?

Highlight the contact’s name in the Contacts list so you can see the chat window for this contact. Click on the Conversation menu and select Notification settings.

you have the relevant option there

HI, go to settings > notifications. There you can setup your notification preferences.

    Hope this helps.

To be honest I got rid of those online notification popups altogether. What value does it really add having those popup all day long. If you need to contact someone you will go and see if they are online and if someone needs to contact you, they will if you are online. So I see no need to be distracted with those popups all day long. Just disable them all I say. Remove unnecessary distractions. Everytime one comes up your eyes go to it and distracts you from your current task.
