Is it a good idea to buy leads?

Hi Warriors, I have a site in the "Dog Niche" and no list. Is there a proven effective site that sells targeted leads? What is your opinion and suggestions?

Thanks, I would really appreciate the help on this one before I spend any money that I can't really spare.

I am not sure this is a good practice. If you can piggy back on another marketers list and let them mail that is a good arrangement.

Accessing a list you didn't create yourself has various implications.

    NO!
    are you crazy Gaetane?

Attraction Marketing is key. Do not under any circumstances
buy leads, never. The response of your own generated leads will
never be the same as the one from the buyed list.

    Hey Gaetane

    Never say never.

I would say it depends what you do with them.

Many businesses offline wouldn't survive without bought leads.

    Cheers,

    nope, doesn't work.
it's best to do build your list via JVs.

    I agree with the "no".

When you have your own list or through a JV recommendation these are qualified leads who have a certain level of trust with you. This is where the value is.

Buying the leads doesnt have this level of value.. its practically Spam. How often do you listen to and buy from your Spam?

Several millionaires have been made with 'list purchasing and renting'....think of the old school Direct Marketing guys. They didn't setup hundreds of squeeze pages to access those lists (think about it, they were doing this before the interwebs)...

And today you can rent/buy leads...but one think, you gotta gut check yourself here...make sure that you have the required CAN-SPAM compliant data with those leads...and that you ensure you do everything legit on your side (honor remove requests, have good contact info for yourself, no emailing out with dirty software that uses proxies, etc)...

    Hope this helps.
