First step - aged domains?

Hi everyone this is my first post here and I have some questions that I would like to have answered before I start my journey here.

1) When I buy an aged domain how will the created, expires and updated dates modify?
For example at this domain WarriorForum.com - WarriorForum - Internet Marketing Forums

Created: 2001-04-18

Expires: 2015-04-18
Updated: 2012-10-28

if I would buy it( this is hypotetical question and this domain is just as example ) I guess only the updated will be actualized and created will remain unchanged?

2) I read on this forum that checking if site is blacklisted by google is important. How can I do that exactly, is there an official way like emailing google?

That's it, next step is to come in the marketplace and start looking for a domain

    Hi Uwewerner,

1 - that's correct... updated will update, the other two will stay the same...
2 - lol; no, Google doesn't care that much about you to personally email you

The simplest way is to go to Google and do a "site:domain.com" search - if the domain shows up, that means it's still indexed, which is a good sign (aka, it isn't 'completely blacklisted') - however, these days, it's also important to judge if the site's link profile is "healthy" or not... IE, if it has a bunch of spam links built to it, and it's been hit by an algo update, it's going to much more difficult to rank in Google...

Using a link tool like Majestic SEO or Moz Site Explorer, take a look at the site's current backlinks and make sure there aren't a bunch of obvious spam ones showing up (IE, porn, drugs, etc).

Once both of those factors are taken into account, there's a good chance it's clean and ready to give you a "shortcut" in the rankings.

(I'm actually working on an aged domain guide right now I'll be releasing soon - feel free to stay in touch and take a look to get even more in-depth... always gotta be stacking the odds in your favor as much as possible)

    Good luck!

vk3 thanks I really appreciate your help,
for step 2 I was thinking I email google and ask them about buying an aged domain, but what how would they think about this? I mean they consider using aged domains blackhat and would blacklist the domain even if itself is ok?
also related to first question: when an old domain that is dropped and re-registered what should I expect: I start from beginning with registration date or just the update will be updated?

Domains can also be on email blacklists and are almost impossible to get off of them, so you'd want to check that if you plan on building a list and emailing from an email address on the domain.
