    Were the bad reviews deserved?

I don't know of anyway you can "fix" something - except to contact the person who wrote the review in order to find out how to fix the situation.

    This is called reputation management.

I can help, but I'm not cheap.

Were the bad reviews warranted? Is there common issue/concern/trend raised by the guests? If so, fixing that issue/concern/trend would be the quickest and easiest solution. Also, as a business owner you are allowed to respond to the review and give your side of the story. Responding shows other viewers that you do listen to guest concerns and are involved. If you have fixed an issue raised by the guest respond and say so. No response would mean you either do not care or you haven't fixed the issue. Dedicate 1 member of your staff to monitor the reviews daily. More often than not, you can fix the issue before the guest leaves the property. Be proactive, train your staff to own the problem and resolve it while the guest is still there!

to remove reviews on tripadvisor.com would be a difficult challenge.
Better you respond to those reviews and clear your point of view professionally; that might ease the situation somehow.

Thanks for the response guys. It's a family owned business and the hotel was under management which wasn't being looked after. However, now, I've decided to get more involved in the business to see where improvements can be made.

I am definitely going to take more of a proactive approach to ensure this is reduced/eliminated.

Going to see if I can respond back to these reviews... Didn't see the option earlier when I checked. But I'll check again.

    I'll also check fiverr.com.

    Thanks guys

ok, so what I understand is that you had a deserved bad reviews previously but that has changed.

If that is the case, you may want to seduce your existing customers who like the place to write a review about your website on Trip Advisor , in exchange of a perk.

Don't ask for a positive or negative review, just try something like review our hotel on TripAdvisor for ( I don't know what perks you can offer in your hotel )

Another thing that is important, is to find out how your website doing on other review sites, if the reviews are consistent, that would be a problem.

reputation management is a whole different world, I don't know what John can offer, but i might be interested to find out.

The solution to this problem depends on how people are accessing the negative reviews.

Are the reviews on tripadvisor only? Or are they accessing the reviews on trip advisor VIA Google?

Why not just show us, so we can be more helpful?

Definitely use the bad reviews as a way of determining what can be fixed or made better in your hotel. As a business owner you don't like to see bad reviews however they can offer valuable insight into how to improve your business. After you've fixed the issues then offer some sort of perk/discount on your guests next stay if they review your sight on tripadvisor or other sites as you want. If you look at it this way, maybe you just learned a new technique to get a lot of positive reviews out there going forward.

John Romaine is right, you are definitely needing "reputation management". I wouldn't use Fiverr for that even if it were free. Fiverr is good for some things, but it's completely awful for anything SEO related, Reputation Management, etc.

    Hey there,

    My specialty is rep/marketing.

I can create a private review page for your new reviews to post to.
I can create a system for your customers to post reviews on your review site.

And I can post all the new reviews unto your website, your Facebook, Twitter and LikedIn pages in real time.

If interested, give me a holler.

  • If you have a bad review, take it as an opportunity for future business that will LOVE you.

I wouldn't shy away from it, but I'd acknowledge it, say that it did happen, and broadcast what you've done to make sure it never happens again - and how you've now made it a strength of your business.

You don't want to delete these. You want to respond to them.

You want to say: "I am the owner, I looked into this, and from what you're mentioning here - I can see that you're actually right - I have interviewed the employee(s) in question, and I can see that your stay with us was not ideal and NOT how we do business, ever. I have taken corrective action, and this is how: (outline what you've done in detail). If you contact me personally, (give phone number of business) and if can prove your identity to me I will throw in a complimentary stay with us to make it up for you.)

The other people will see what kind of customer service you have, and how you deal with these situations and they will FLOCK to your business. It's just how you have to treat people if your team treats them in a less-than-ideal way.

I have seen the power of one poor review. Do not get me started on getting many. This is from personal experience. Certainly they can destroy you. Please do your best to beg people for reviews. Most will give you a good one. Well, that is unless some thing is seriously wrong. Yeah, and I mean serious.
