Can a site survive on ads alone?

Hi guys, completely new to this.

I am interested in setting up a site but I dont have plans to sell anything. Instead I was thinking of posting articles of things that I am passionate in. Of course I dont expect much traffic at the start but hopefully this will change as time passes.

Is this a feasible idea? Thanks!

Maybe you should try selling on a third party marketplace like Ebay or Amazon? That way, you can learn the ropes of ecommerce without putting a lot of money down.

Yes, you can go for it. You can build your email list and can place adsense ads. Email list is more important than adsense and your reader will optin to your list only if you provide valuable information to them.

Yes of course, this is very possible indeed, there are undoubtedly lots of things to learn first but nothing that reading these forums can't teach you Give it a shot and don't hesitate to ask for advice, most people on WF are very friendly and willing to help! Good luck.

Hello, I am new as well, this is what I intend to do as well. If you know your niche then go for it.

    All the best!

Yes a site can survive on selling ad space alone... but its whether you can survive while you build it up to that stage...

I have sites in lots of niches and i sell ad space in a few of them but still ebay/adsense amazon etc make up a large sum of my income.....

well, posting articles and growing your site is a great idea and it worth it ,I have done to some of my sites and posted a gig on fiverr to sell ads and it generates 100$/month on an average after 30 days of setting up
