Top 50 Article Directories by Traffic & Page Rank

I just found a list of the Top 50 article directories listed by traffic & page rank:
List Of Top 50 Article Directories By Traffic, PageRank

My question is: Why are some sites (such as GoArticles) always mentioned as one of the top article directories... when this list shows them as ranking much lower? Do these sites achieve higher click-thru rates or something?

Publishing to GoArticles is very easy, and the article is published when you hit the button. I guess it is the ease of use that has made goarticles stick in peoples mind.

Good question. I have articles on several and find that Ezine articles do, indeed, get more views, my next most visited are my articles with Associated Content (and those articles earn me a little cash as well). GoArticles is probably clear down at the bottom of my list, for number of views.

That link has been posted by many including me in this forum many times over.. What you need to keep in mind is that "Alexa" rank does not mean anything. GoArticles many like due to the fact they do not need to wait for a article to be reviewed..

I think a lot of people would disagree with you there. I see websites sell all of the time on Alexa Rank alone. So, I would say Alexa rank is important to quite a few people otherwise why does it weigh so much when selling a site? Hmmmmm?

I'm just curious about this top 50 list. Why on earth would they put PR0 sites on the list?

Personally I find Goarticles to have the worst results out of any article directory I've submitted to. The fact that you can instantly publish without any filter whatsoever makes them a natural breeding ground for spammers, and I think Google ranks any link from them accordingly.

Last year I had a blog that was ranked in the top 10 for my chosen keyword. I hadn't built any backlinks in a while, so I decided to write a couple of articles and submit them to Goarticles. Within a couple of days my sight disappeared into Google's dreaded sandbox. Took months to resurface again. Might have been coincidence, but I don't use Goarticles to build backlinks anymore.

Well they put it at the position 5 which is very high. Don't look at that number as something important. Alexa and PR are just some clues (in lack of better ones) to give you which directories are good. There are exceptions like articlecube.com has a Pagerank of 0 while one of the top article marketers tells he gets great Google rankings and a lot of traffic from there.

In other words, get your list of top let's say 30 directories and use them.

Page rank of a site can be sometimes really overrated.
GoArticles is rated second among the users because it
is the most popular one after the EzineArticles.com

But nevertheless, what google considers value can be
different from what the people consider it to be. Interesting huh?
