Wordpress URL Modification Querry

Hey yáll

I was trying to model some sites who use the category in their url for a client. This is something I have never played with because I have always just %postname% as a custom and moved on.

SO I went and did this /%category%/%postname% and what I get is 2 presentations of the category in the url. ???? Why? I dunno.

That's why I thought I'd come in and ask what yáll thought and see what comes up...

  • Is your post/page listed under two categories? Or a parent and child category?
  • In testing I created a post, and it always comes out with the root category/post assigned category/post name

    I went into WP settings>permalinks and to do this I placed /%category%/%postname% in the custome field

    To me this should not then include the root category, as in the #1 category creates that all other categories branch from... but that is what is happening.

    If you are asking whether I am assigning the post to multiple categories when draft save/publishing then no, I am assigning only one.
