Misspelling and EZA - Your Opinions

What is your take on driving traffic to your articles using misspellings?

I have noticed that sometimes there are searches done by people that have misspelled what they are searching for - not as a typo, but because that is how they think a word is spelled.

Anyone have suggestions/opinions on using misspellings in your article as the main keyword.

I have mixed feelings on this. Either you are producing what you feel is professional content, or you are purposely trying to set a lower standard for the sake of SEO.

I agree - I think about all of the articles I have read that DO have typos in them. While it could have just been an innocent mistake, it still reflects on the author and what they are trying to say.

the theoretical number for possible keyword variations/misspellings for "hemmorhoids" makes me dizzy. <-- just one example

I would not submit an article about "hemroids" to EZA - but this doesnt mean i wouldnt use the word for PPC or put an article with intentional misspelling on my own site

I agree, but go look - as for your example, the word "hemroids" has many listings in EZA, some with quite a large number of views. So are the people that are looking less concerned about the "typos" than the content or is it that they just believe that to be the correct spelling?

I had the same question myself. I never did it though, but if anyone else has I would love to know your opinion on it.

TimS had a good wso on this a while back...not sure if it still available...you may want to search the forum.

Just a quick note...EZA may reject your articles due to spelling/grammar mistakes...this just happened to me the other day.

Good point. Interesting though - I typed in "hemroids" and it EZA did not indicate an incorrect spelling, but when I typed in "hemeroids", it did. Maybe some typos are acceptable and others are not?

I wonder if EZA does their own SEO with misspelled words? Which is why they may allow "hemroids" but not "hemeroids".
And I don't want to think about hemorrhoids the rest of the day. Heh.

As usual...it most likely depends on the reviewer at eza...

I had asked TimS this same question. He said his experience is that EZ will either rewrite the words or reject the article.

Well in the case of the example, they use the word "hemroids" in 600+ articles at EZA some referencing it in the title, others in the body...so then they must approve certain misspellings over others then? I wonder about words like cholesterol or cholestrol, disease or diesease (desease), even traffic and trafic?

It would seem that EZA is more "ok" with misspellings that their concern for readers' reaction.

One factor about EZ that you need to keep in mind: just because you find it existing on EZ doesn't mean they will allow you to do it NOW.

They have thousands (millions?) of spammy, crappy articles. They haven't deleted them (they would be crazy to) but that doesn't mean they will allow you to publish a spammy, crappy article.

So - EZ may have allowed spelling mistakes in the past, but since you want to do something NOW, the issue is - does EZ currently allow articles with mis-spellings? Most say "no."

Google offers a lot of very visible suggestions now for mis-spellings, making it harder to get traffic to mis-spellings. Some sites like EZ aren't interested in getting more mis-spelling traffic. It suggests to me that the technique is becoming less valuable overall.

Also, if you want to do some mis-spelling SEO work, you might consider other social media or free blog sites, rather than EZ.

    Just some thoughts.

    Best Regards, Georgetta
