Has anyone tried both?

I want to build a list with a WSO but has anyone tested results between a free and a very low priced WSO?

I think in the end the low priced ones would be better value but may get less sign ups.

What are your opinions?

If wanting to do a WSO primarily for list-building purposes, I would definitely do a $1 one, myself, rather than a free one.

One builds you a smaller list of people known to have either a credit-card or a PayPal account and the ability and willingness to use it online. The other builds you a larger list comprising a mixture of those people and many others, with no way to distinguish between the two groups. I know which I'd rather have.

Just my perspective, on the basis of zero experience: I've never done a WSO at all and have no list matching the niche-demographics we're talking about, here.

      Thanks
I decided to go with the $1 for now and may also test a Free one with a $1 upgrade in the future

Hoping to build a small but responsive buyers list

      Thanks

I haven't tried $1, but I know a buyers list will buy products faster/easier than a freebie list.

I'd try offering a $1 product. It kind of weeds out people who are just looking for free stuff. You'll probably build a smaller list, but it will have more people willing to buy on it.

Very interesting question as I have my first free WSO out at present. I have zero takers out of 99 views which says to me that people are expecting crap for free.

SO in answer to question maybe $1 is better or probably $3 dollars better again for perceived value.

It's a bit like the t shirts we all fall for, same material just fact it is $50 instead of $10 makes it more desirable (maybe not exact comparison as peers come into this one)

Sorry to hear you have no takers yet!

Maybe people on the WF are looking to pay low prices but tired of getting short reports or limited free WSOs.

Warrior members always like a lot of value for a very small price

Well I have a confession...........I hadn't set up notify in aweber so actually had 13 sunscribe with 2 lost, and a couple pending so not bad conversion on those views really

I still stand by your point though that 1 or 2 bucks would have been better for a buyers list.
My product is really well formatted and decent content I believe so hopefully change a few views on a freebie

Even a, $1 wso is better than..a free one. It is still, a buyers list and it shows, that people are willing to spend...money!

The problem with a free offer or a $1 offer is that no one will be interested in promoting it for you.

I would prefer to have a $17 offer that affiliates could at least get marginally excited about promoting. Without affiliate traffic you are going to struggle if you just rely on the organic traffic in the WSO forum. That's been my experience.

The prospect of doing a WSO priced so low that it would preclude any refunds from happening is quite enticing. Even a poorly composed WSO should surely have enough useful info info in it as to be worth the dollar. Meanwhile you have a good list of paypal emails comprised of people who bought from you, thus could do so again on the upsells.

If you (proverbial you) have any real concerns about refunds for your product it's probably a sign your product is not good enough and you know it. I never waste time worrying about refunds because I know that the value I give always far exceeds the price I am charging. That should be your aim very single time. Do that and you won't need to worry about refunds.

Do both inside the same WSO, throw in an awesome bonus for the $1 buyers (or whatever dollar amount).

This way you get the freebie takers possibly spreading the free version all over the net (free advertising). Build two separate list from that single WSO (freebie takers/buyers). Advertise the awesome $1 upgrade bonus inside the free version of the WSO.

It's not uncommon for a freebie taker to convert into a buyer weeks/months later.

Really two versions of the same WSO isn't any extra work, just leave out the best part of the content on the free version to entice freebie takers to upgrade.

Would you like to Supersize Size that?

I would also recommend the 1$ WSO.

At least, you know for sure that your buyers have money and are willing to spend it. When you give away a free report most people just sign up to your list to download the report and once they have read it they unsubscribe from your list... or they stay on it but are unresponsive.

    Good luck!

A bit late now as you have released the $1 WSO but I would have gone with Will R's suggestion. I would sell for at least $7 and try to get some affiliates onboard by giving 100% commissions, ideally an OTO as well with a slightly higher price.

If your WSO is for the purpose of building list, better to go with paid one and not free.

    I am agree with WillR
if you are looking for only organic traffic in the WSO forum then $1 is good
but you want good list then you must have something for affiliates too so that you will get lot more traffic and good paying list .
    Good Luck

    Thanks for all your advice.

I didn't think about affiliates on this WSO. I have launched a few in the past but had some issues with Paypal so now work with 2checkout so I cannot use WarriorPro or JVZoo.

This is a shame but I have made several sales so far and look forward to getting more as time goes on.
