my mate did this one cool trick and got loads of free traffic to his sales page

Here's a cool little trick that a mate shared with me recently. You don't need any special skills or experience.

Just a little bit of savvyness...

My mate was on youtube and came across a guy who was mad into reviewing gadgets of various kinds. He had around 20,000 subscribers and most of his videos had views in the hundreds of thousands.

Also, none of the gadgets he was reviewing had affiliate links in them - this guy knew nothing about affiliate marketing, he just loved making these vids.

My mate contacted him and offered to give him a couple of hundred dollars if he'd do a review of his product and post it out to his subscribers.

The youtube guy was stoked and totally went for it.

6 months later this one video made my mate well over 50k. That's $50,000 just from sending out one email.

Pretty crazy huh. These extreme results aren't likely to happen too often but it just shows that thinking outside the box is the key to traffic generation!

Nice way to think out of the box. I assume that the majority of video creators at YouTube have no knowledge of IM or affiliate marketing, so this can be very profitable if done correctly.

Yes I do this all the time. Not just with videos but other things as well. It's called direct advertising and it's a shame people don't use it as much. You can strike some phenomenal deals this way.

Now that just shows someone who knows how to sell by just looking in the right place, well done to him. Nice story, gives me some inspiration

Used to do that a coupla years ago or so.

Except, instead of offering them a hundred bucks or more in exchange for a standalone review, I went for a link in the description field of one of their popular videos for $10-$20.

(I refer to it as a "donation" to their cool video to put them in a more receptive mindstate ... got this tip from somewhere I don't recall long ago).

The video review idea would be more profitable though. Especially if the youtuber has a good subscribers base. Prob is most of them who do, aren't that ignorant to making money off their videos and subscribers.

He just exploited that YouTube guy without him realizing it. That's not fair. The idea to pay big channel owners for reviewing your product is great but how to find those who have real views and subscribers and agree to take your job? You can't just spam everyone around there offering it.

Good way of thinking outside the box. I've heard of something similar to this in the past as well but never followed up on it at the time. Maybe I'll have to give this one some more thought.
