OptimizePress Sales Page for heavy affiliate traffic site??

Hey all,

I am debating whether I should use OptimizePress for one of my Clickbank offers.

The website is selling an online classroom product with lots of streaming videos and pdfs in the module style members section.

For the members area I will use optimizepress (and probably DAP).

But I am wondering if I should install optimize press in the website's members folder (ex: MySite.com/members) because I don't know if I want the sales page to run a wordpress theme.

I basically will have just a video sales letter with a delayed "Call To action" button. I am thinking of using Easy Video Suite to play the video (and maybe even create the sales page)...

Therefore, because it's a clickbank offer and a lot of affiliates will be sending traffic it will be a high traffic site and I don't know if I want wordpress/optimizepress/wordpress databases/etc. loading each time a person comes to the site.

Also, members will be coming back to the members section often and watching the videos in the modules (so there will be a whole lot of people coming to the site and viewing videos). For that reason I will host the videos at Amazon s3 (and I'm considering hosting the members area at a whole other domain).

Besides, for some reason I don't see a lot of Clickbank product owners using OptimizePress for their sales pages (but I do see a decent amount using it for their member's area)...

What are you thoughts on this? What is your advice?

Don't use OptimizePress. You don't need the extra database calls slowing down your website. It doesn't get better than quick-loading HTML pages with EVP linking to a video file on a CDN.

      Thanks for the advice.

If I install Wordpress and Optimizepress for just the members area ...should I use a subdirectory (example.com/members) ...or should I use a subdomain (members.example.com)?

The main thing I want is for the sales pages not to load all the extra stuff and databases from wordpress or optimizepress (I just want it to load the quick html/css and the video)

Use two locations for your Site.

Member: member.yourdomain.com (Dap without cache Plugin)

SalesLetter: yourdomain.com (Wordpress + cache Plugin)

Videos: use a Video Portal (Vimeo Plus or other)

  • Just use a directory (example.com/members) for your members area and a light HTML page for your front-end sales page. I use this setup all the time.

Thanks a lot. And so if I set up a sub-directory and install a wordpress theme on that directory ...it only loads wordpress/wordpress databases/membership scripts when someone visits example.com/members ...is that correct?

(and is there any difference between a subdirectory and subdomain besides the url structure)?

Correct. You wont have enough members to beat down your server. It's the front-end heavy launch traffic what might stress the server.

So are both subdirectories and subdomains essentially the same thing (minus the difference in URL structure)?

Or are there differences/pros and cons of each?

In my opinion it's much better to have your sales page designed in solid HTML/CSS/Java script.

That way it's much easier for you to customise the page, and also split test. When using WordPress with optimise press, I sometimes find you are limited with just what the theme offers you and it's extremely difficult to make some changes to the page.

It has also been mentioned that OptimizePress will slow down your site. This is true to a certain extent. Like I said, removing the WordPress barrier all together will certainly increase your load time, and is a much better idea for long term customisation and split testing in my opinion.

Why couldnt you use OP with DAP and have the sales as the homepage and example.com/members as the members area?

Does using OptimizePress 2.0 really make that big a difference in site speed? I've seen many OP2.0 sites that appear to load quite fast.

    Thanks,
    Allan

If you want to install OptimizePress just for one offer then its not recommended. You can track same stuff with much lighter and alternative solutions.

Optimize Press 1.0 or 2.0 have same issue with the Load time. I have installed it on number of websites and its exactly giving same issue. The core programming of the plugin is wrong. In simple if you using Optimize Press plugin for landing pages your page refresh rate or load time will not be super good compare to other pages.
