Buying a website for affiliate marketing

Hi everyone, I am a beginner to internet marketing. I am thinking about earning money with the affiliate program, so I built a website, but got rejected by every affiliate-provider because it has no traffic, so I am thinking to buy a already-built website that has traffic. I saw one on the web which sells at only $37. I am tempted to try but not sure whether this is a feasible solution or not. Can anyone give me some advice? Thank you!

I second this. Commission Junction is a good reputable company to go with for affiliate marketing and you would do well to work this angle over time.

You definitely need to learn ways of getting traffic to your site as that is the key to making any money online. Since you are just starting out focus on a free way of getting traffic such as SEO or posting in forum's related to your market, and also one paid form of traffic such as PPC or Solo Ads. Don't shy away from the paid traffic sources because you can get traffic so much quicker and easier than the free ways.

Specify a marketing budget you can afford on a monthly basis, even if it's just $50/month, and stick to that. Be consistent and you will be successful over time. Don't fall into the trap of expecting success to come overnight, it rarely does. Just be consistent with both your free and paid traffic strategies and you will get the success you are looking for.

      Jon.

Hey, its good that you built your own site and trying to get affiliate programs but I should tell you its little hard to earn money online as there is so much competition but hard work is key to success.

I would suggest you don't buy a site it won't help you anyway and better try to learn about website promotion and earning through affiliates and others ads network which also pays for clicks and impressions.

No one can earn money if he/she doesn't know how to get traffic to site. Try participation in highly active forums to learn about seo and online marketing.

Surely with time you will get traffic as well as money.

    All the best

Make sure you verify the website's traffic. Avoid bot traffic. Use SEOQuake to do some detective work on the site you are thinking of buying.

For $37 pop, I don't the website that you wanna buy is worth it.

If you already built a website why don't you try to gain exposure first before anything else. Why you want to have ads or afilliate products ads on your site while you're having no potential leads.

Traffic is not that hard to generate, but the hard part is to generate solid traffic that lead to the conversion.

Moreover, it's better to do it yourself for traffic generation and it's not over time to put the ads after you're popular enough to convert. Do it yourself, learn it and rince it and repeat it.

I just wanna tell you that most of the links in the signature are trash and/or a trap to make you pay!

If you buy a website on $37, I dont think that website worth either to qualify.

Thank you for all of your comments and advice. It really help. Yes, I was just too lazy to learn SEO so wanted to have a shortcut to generate traffic asap, but that is not a correct attitude. I think I know what to do now. Thank you.

CommissionJunction is a fast network. They approve quicker than others. They give instant payouts.

Try starting a service that you can offer your local community, then as you build traffic on there, you can promote affiliate products.

You want to sign up with a network like clickbank or commission junction and promot other peoples products first. Learn how to build a list! Internet marketing is all done the same way so just be careful with all the hype up sales pitches that are out there. Supply and demand!

Find something that is selling and build yourself a list of prospects in that market.

Take it slow and just so you understand there is no fast way to make money online. It all comes down to experiance. So its supply and demand and then finding people or traffic and then conversions. Master those two things and you can make money in any market and niche. Traffic and conversions!

    Hi Dante 123,

I personally think that we do not have to forget the essential of marketing: "Working Hard."

I kindly advise that if you purchase an already built website, you still will have to create content from time to time. (a) Once every day, (b) Once every week, (c) Once every month, (d) Once every year... Your choice among a-b-c-d alternatives above will make the quantity of money you will earn from affiliate marketing.

To this respect I highly advise you to create your own content. After writing your 10th or 20th article you can apply to the affiliate networks. The traffic does not matter, the original content is king.

    Good Luck

You'll need to learn to drive traffic to your website if you want to succeed with affiliate marketing, so now seems as good a time to start as any!

If you're going to focus 100% on affiliate marketing to begin with, I would save your money & NOT buy a website! Here's why...

You would only need a website if you were marketing your own product... For this, you would need multiple pages on the site...(i.e. Home/Opt-in page, Sales Page, Contact, Privacy, Terms & Conditions etc...)

With affiliate marketing, you don't really need to be concerned with a sales page..All the promotional material is provided by the vendor! All you really need to do is drive visitors to that page..

      Here's what I suggest:
      - Create a quick squeeze page & drive your visitors to this. When they opt-in they should be directed to the sales -via your AFFILIATE ID link... If they buy, you get paid.. Easy!

      Here's what you need:
      - Sign up for an autosponder account. Aweber is really good! Not the cheapest, but their customer service is top notch!
      - Sign up for a squeeze page generator to create your quick squeeze page. You can try: 90 Second Squeeze Page
      - Integrate your opt-in box from Aweber into the squeeze page on 90secondsqueezepage.. Make sure that when the visitor clicks to opt-in through your squeeze page, the link you put in Aweber is your affiliate link...that way you get paid if they purchase..

      That's it - in a nutshell...

I would only suggest buying a site (if you really have to!) when you're comfortable with Internet Marketing & are ready to create & market your own products.
