goto gtmetrix.com and tell me your average load time?

    Mine is like 3.* seconds.

(Should be lower, but I run 10 tests per average and a few awkward 5.* loadtimes killed the average lolz)

    :/

Yikes! That's horrible. You'll lose visitors that way.

Are you running Wordpress on these sites?

I just tested two of my sites and one loaded in 2.38 seconds and the other in 0.81 seconds.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

Since The hostgator was acquired by EIG Group. So, they did not change the servers but they will move old hostgator servers to their slow server.

I haven't actually measured loading times, but instinctively I feel that editing my Wordpress sites is slower. Shame, as I renewed my annual subscription at the beginning of June. But I do think it's time to look for yet another host. I have 2 others, but it's either time to move to a third, or simply put everything with betterwebspace - by far the best of the 3 I use but a little expensive. I guess you get what you pay for!

It is very S-L-O-W, but what else is new. That is what happens when you put too many domains on too few servers. Yeah, they are cutting costs and trimming expenses. Sadly, we suffer slow servers. Certainly, they are using slow hard drives instead of the new fast flash ones. Maybe that is what is squeezing us. Lag is so great that some of my web sites time out now. Please tell HG to stop cutting corners.

Hit the nail right on the head. This has been EIG's mo for years. Remember, Endurance International Group is investors. In any scenario where costs can be cut & profits maximized, it will happen, at your expense.

Get used to the infamous loading dashboards/sites of anything using mysql.

This is my experience and test...

Right after one of my sites (wordpress) was moved to the "new" servers I noticed a big difference in load times. It was much slower than normal. This wesite was pretty small about 500k with a video. I did some ping load time checks and my best time was 4.03 seconds and my worst was 29.93 seconds (most test were closer to the slower numbers). Even at 4 seconds that seemed slow to me. I even noticed loging into cpanal was very slow (also told me it was not my site). My other bigger sites that were not moved yet averaged between 2-4 seconds at different times of the day.

I, like others, called and they said they ran tests 3-13 seconds was ok by them and everything looked good. Well, no help there!

So, I decided to move that same smaller website to a different host just to see if there was a difference. I did not change anything on the website at all.

        The results...

Now my fastest load time was 1.92 seconds and my slowest was 3.02 (at diferent times of the day) and if it wasn`t for the video, looks like my load times would be about 1 second.

IMHO, trouble shooting 101, the new server my site was on failed miserably (but not according to them). Now I know it was not my site and I will probably be looking at moving more sites soon.

Thanks for the confirmation for my NOT going to Hostgater for some WP site ip diversity!

Yea, I also just left the not so "dreamy" DreamHost service and hooked up with Nick Jolins new Amazon Cloud based Hosting service and haven't looked back.

It's nice and good to see qualified IMers developing Hosting Solutions for IMers and his service has been very good (1month so far).

He's got a $1 trial offer going right now!

I am probably going to get rid of host gator. The funny thing is my accounts on iPage and Blue Host load much quicker. I suspect part of the migration process was putting more accounts on the same server. I had hoped the problem would clear up by now (from other people canceling) but it doesn't look like that is going to happen.

      Yep.

New owners. Big money acquiring HG. Need to make their financials look good? "Better" server density (basically more accounts per server).

So far, it's been great since this tread was created. I have no plan to leave HG yet. I've been using them for years and a simple downtime like this would not make my mind change in favor to other non-tested hosts. Plus, the support always impresses me.

My Wordpress websites on Bluehost have been experiencing timeout errors as well. I'll give it one more month before I decide on changing to another host. It's weird because my static websites are doing just fine.

1.23 seconds here but I must say I have found periods when using the WP dashboard it has loaded much slower than before the migration. I hope this is just part of teething issues and not continuous performance standards.
